By the time he (momentarily) stopped, Marilyn was easily in tears, as she had been for a few minutes, and she hiccuped and cried a little while hanging over his knee, attempting to get a reign on her tears but mostly failing.

Without any more hesitation, he brought it down hard on her backside, over and over in the center of her bottom.

Then he rubbed the back of the sobbing girl. "You may stand and give me your apology when you're ready."

Marilyn's wailing was quickly cut off by her heavy sobbing from the pain of the strokes, and once Bernard finished, it took several minutes for her to regain her composure before she had her crying relatively under control and reduced to sniffling. She shakily rose to her feet and said, "I-I'm re-really sorrrryyyy a-about b-buying th-this dress a-a-and l-lying to you ab-bout it, sirrr..."
