"Yes, ma'am," she murmured as Miss Lottie left, before she quickly got dressed and headed to Mr. Lawrence's study. She apologized, and explained why she did it, and he wasn't too pleased with her behavior. However, he just had her write an essay, explaining why what she did was wrong and that she would never do it again, and let her go with a parting smack to her bottom.

Lottie assigned some reading and essay work for Sadie to do, and she met Marilyn just outside of Mr. Lawrence's study. From the way she looked, she didn't seem like she had gotten another spanking. "Alright, Marilyn. Sadie is doing her own private work today. How about we work together on some things you're having trouble with, hm?"

Lottie and Marilyn did spend more time together with lessons, and Marilyn kept improving. Finally, the entrance exam date came, and the two girls took their tests. The questions were hard, so Sadie was very nervous that she didn't do well at all. A few weeks passed and the girls got their letters from the college. They sat across the desk from Mr. Lawrence in his study, with Lottie standing behind him.

They opened their letters at the same time, and Sadie's eyes widened, brimming with tears. "I made it in! I thought that there was no way I could pass the test! But, I made it!" Her face was bright and her smile wide.

"Oh, Sadie, I'm so proud of you!" Lottie said with a smile.

Marilyn smiled at her friend. "I'm so proud of you, Sadie!"

Mr. Lawrence came over and gave her a kiss on her forehead. "Congratulations, Sadie. I knew you could do it!... Marilyn? What does yours say?"

"Oh!" Marilyn had forgotten to look at hers, actually. She looked down, and - after a few seconds of reading - her shoulders slumped down. "I... I didn't get in. They said I could try the exam again next year, but... they don't want me until then..."

The room went quiet. Sadie let her letter fall limp in her her hands. She had gotten in, and that was wonderful, but this was a college where she'd have to move away and live in the dorms. Without Marilyn...

Lottie walked over to Marilyn and hugged her tight. "It's alright, Marilyn. Those tests are tricky, and now that you've taken it once, we can work on what you had trouble with the most and when you take it again next year, it'll be much easier."

"Yeah..." Sadie affirmed softly.
