Theresa smiled and she made her way up on the bed next to Nikki, resting her head on the mattress and sighing.

"Yeah", she answered Nikki's question. "My mom and dad have a "Trouble at school, trouble at home"-policy", she went on with a shudder. "Though my mom is more serious about it than my dad is.

She got an embarassed look on her face. "I mean...I love my mom and dad of course", she said, "But they're....you know...really strict sometimes. They both....well....you know", she gestured with her head towards her butt. "Not like your dad. I mean....he's so cool. He'd never do that", she said with a certainty she didn't know where she had from.

"What's he do, anyway?", she went on, changing the subject from the intensely awkward subject of discipline, to something more mundane, as far as she knew. When Nikki apologized, Theresa shook her head.

"Don't apologize", she smiled. "Yeah, my butt hurts, but it would have hurt a lot more to see my friend getting beat up by those bitches", she went on. "I've got your back, girl", she smiled, and then winced a bit as she made a movement that let her scorched butt make a partial impact against the bed before rolling back over on her stomach. "And your butt too, I guess", she finished with a chuckle.

Tony had decided to leave the girls alone for a couple of hours, before he made lunch - a tray of ham-and-cheese-sandwiches. He took a bottle of coke from the fridge, a couple of glasses, and headed upstairs, knocking on Nikki's door.
When he entered, he grinned at the girls. "Hungry?", he asked as he put the tray, coke and glasses on Nikki's desk. "How are you girls doing?", he asked next.

"Feeling better?"

"Guess again," Nikki said somewhat wryly when Theresa said that her dad would never do something like that, the girl wishing that were the case but it wasn't. And while it might have been her first impulse to hide that fact and not talk about it, since it was embarrassing, she didn't want to do that in this instance since Theresa had been upfront with her. "He doesn't seem to be planning to do anything in this instance but... he has before and probably will again."

She had no reason to think that he was going to stop after all.

When her new friend went on to ask about her father's profession Nikki paused for a brief moment but it wasn't like it was classified information or anything along those lines. "He's a federal agent, he works for NCIS," Nikki responded, waiting to be questioned on what that was since it wasn't a very well known government agency, not like the FBI or the CIA with which everyone was familiar.

She went on to thank Theresa for helping her and to apologize, the girl sighing softly in response to what her friend had to say.

"I wish it hadn't come to that... you needing to save me..." Nikki said, wondering exactly what it was that had caused this. She hadn't ever known Ashleigh to be violent and she found herself wondering if maybe those new friends of hers had put her up to it.

"I honestly never thought that Ashleigh would do something like that... not just to me but to anyone," the girl said in a quiet voice.

Nikki was somewhat startled when there came a knock at the door, even though she knew who that had to be. "Come in," she called out, watching as her dad entered the room with food. "Wow... took some talent to carry all that," Nikki commented idly, her gaze focused on her dad and she gave him a wry look when he asked if they were feeling better.

"Kinda, I guess," Nikki said, not really sounding all that convincing in that. Of course she didn't want to talk about it right now so she just offered him a somewhat weak smile as she added, "It'll be fine. Thanks for the food."

Admittedly she was hungry so that at least was a welcome thing.

To say that Theresa was surprised when Nikki corrected her illusion about her father would be an understatement. She was shocked. Nikki's dad seemed so cool - there was no way he'd ever do...that.
But unless Nikki was lying - and no one ever lied about THAT - he would, and had.

"...wow", she merely responded, before giving her friend a hug. "I'm sorry", she said. "But hey. At least you're not alone in that, huh?", she grinned before lying her head on the bed again trying to relax.

"People change", Theresa said when Nikki told her she couldn't imagine Ashleigh doing what she had. "I mean.... Something major must have changed for her, but still...", she went on, not quite sure how to finish that sentence, then just shrugged.

"Don't worry", she said. "I doubt they're going to try anything like that again. And if they do, I've got your back, regardless of what happens", she said with a strange determination.
She looked at Nikki

"I've seen enough of those types of girls to know that if they think they can get away with bullying, they'll just keep doing it. I'm not gonna let that happen here", she finished with determination.

When Tony entered, Theresa couldn't help but look at him in a new light after what Nikki had revealed about him, but she quickly realized that nothing seemed different apart from her own perception based on the earlier revelation.
If she'd thought logically about things, she wouldn't have been surprised. She didn't love or care about her mom and dad any less, even though both of them had taken her hairbrush to her butt on more than one occasion.

"Thank you, sir", she said, regarding the sandwiches as she sat up, and yelped a little, then blushed, as she sat on her bottom, even though it was on Nikki's soft bed.

Tony smiled, and resisted the urge to kiss Nikki's forehead - he didn't want to do that in front of her friend - before he closed the door again to leave the girls to their own devices. Also, he had a search warrant that McGee had insisted needed to be sent to a judge for approval as soon as possible.
Tony had gotten a very different impression of McGee in the very short while since the teams roles had shifted. He always knew that McGee was competent, but he hadn't known exactly how competent until Gibbs had become Director, and he himself had become "the new Gibbs". McGee was a great second, and, someday, Tony was sure, would be a great team leader.

"It is what it is I guess...nothing I can really do about it aside from just deal with it," Nikki said with a sigh and a shrug of her shoulders. Yes she would love to be able to solve this situation and more than anything she would like for things to be the way that they were. Or at least that was the way that she had felt about things before the fight.

Now...

Well now she wasn't entirely sure.

The fact that her former best friend had been able to do something like that changed the way that Nikki viewed her and not for the better. She decided that dwelling on it wasn't really doing any good however and so she just sighed softly. "I appreciate the offer of help, I really do, but you should probably try to stay out of trouble," she said in a quiet voice.

When her dad came into the room with food she thanked him and then watched as he left.

"...I still can't believe he isn't mad at me," Nikki commented as she started to eat the food that had been brought for the two of them. "I was sure he'd be livid when he found out what had happened." Nikki knew that she was going to have to talk to him about what had happened, as well as about the way that she had been treating him, but she wasn't quite sure how to go about that.

It was a problem that she was going to have to figure out for herself however.

This was not something that her new friend was going to be able to help her with.

Theresa listened to Nikki telling her that she was surprised that her father hadn't been mad at her. She smiled:

"That's why he seems so cool", she said, not once more going into the supposed difference between her parents and Nikki's dad, now that she knew that that particular difference wasn't there at all. "I mean....yeah, most parents would be, I guess", was all she said.

In the living room, Tony was having a conference call with McGee while he was doing a few other things as well, using the opportunity to clean the kitchen even just a little bit, now that he was actually home to do it.

"I'm telling you, Tony, this is the guy", McGee insisted. Tony sighed.

"Alright", he said, "But you'd better be damn sure, Tim", he went on, looking at the screen, "because if it isn't, we'll have just shown our hand, and the case collapses. The bastards will run into the ground and not come back up until the Sun explodes."

"I'm sure", McGee said with confidence in his voice, and that was enough for Tony. "Alright", he then agreed. "Go get him. I'll get the arrest warrant to the judge"

"Great, Tony, thanks", McGee replied, then, on a sudden notion, helped by the fact that he was in Abby's lab and Abby gave him that insistent look, he spoke up:

"Btw, how's Nikki doing? I heard there was some problems at school?", he asked, and Tony nodded with a smile

"Don't worry Abbs", he said, causing Abby to look a little bit surprised for a moment before she smiled too, realizing, of course, that Tony had been there long enough to know his colleagues

No....friends. Best friends, he thought for a moment, before he elaborated on his answer:

"She's fine. She's here with one of her friends who's staying over for dinner. I'll see you guys tomorrow", Tony went on, before making his goodbyes and logging out of the session.

He immediately got to sending the arrest warrant to the judge for signature as he'd promised McGee, and when that was done, he looked at the clock in the living room and realized it was almost 4.30.
Tony smiled and headed upstairs, knocking on Nikki's door again.

"Girls?", he said, "I'm ordering pizza - I have a lot of work to do so I can't really cook tonight", he went on. That was a half-truth, but he was running with it. "What do you guys want?", he asked when he'd opened the door, so he didn't have to have the conversation behind a closed door.

Even though the way that it had come about wasn't really all that ideal Nikki was actually grateful for the chance to spend some time with her new friend. She and Theresa hadn't really known one another all that long after all so it was nice to have the chance to actually get to know the other girl a bit better. Granted what Theresa had done earlier had pretty much cemented their friendship in Nikki's eyes seeing as she knew that most people wouldn't have been willing to stick their necks out and jump into the middle of a fight that they really weren't involved in to save a person that they really didn't know all that well.

The girls passed the time more or less just with small talk, Nikki and Theresa both nursing their wounds as it were but not talking further about what had happened at school.

It was better not to dwell on that.

The girls were still talking when they both heard a knock on the door, Nikki's gaze going to the door as she called out, "You can come in Dad." When he had opened the door she listened to what he was saying and then looked over at Theresa. "I usually just get pepperoni on my pizza because I'm boring like that but you're the guest so what would you like to have?"
