Ryna smiled at Nicolas and looked around. "I think that's enough silver spent today," she said. Ryna had had a very happy afternoon. It was wonderful to spend some time with her son, not worrying about... anything. It had been such a long time since she'd been able to do this. "You've been a wonderful guide so far, Nicolas. Anywhere else you'd like to go?"

Nicolas smiled at his mother when she said that was enough spent, the boy nodding his head and then looking thoughtful when she asked about another destination. "Hmm...well there is something of a common area near the center of town...it's covered in grass and there are trees and a fountain," Nicolas said quietly. "You might like it there, it's pretty." He gazed at his mother as he informed her about that particular part of town.

Ryna nodded as Nicolas told her about the common ground near the town's center. "Lead the way," she said, following her son. He led her to the place he'd mentioned and sure enough it was absolutely lovely. "I can hardly believe this is in the town," she said, looking around. It was far prettier than anything she'd seen in a town on the other side of the sea. "I wonder if we could get permission to perform here," she thought aloud.
She wandered around a bit. She walked over to the fountain and took her shoes off, dipping her feet in the cool water. She sat there for a moment, splashing her feet like a child, waving Nicolas over. "This is just lovely, Nicolas" she said. "Thank you for showing me."

Nicolas had noticed the common while he was out exploring before and he thought that his mother would like it so he told her about it. When she showed her interest the boy lead the way to the area and then smiled as he watched her reaction to it. He was glad that she was happy with this place and he had to laugh slightly when he saw his mother taking her shoes off and dipping her feet in the fountain.
"Glad that you like it...and you could probably talk the town leaders into letting us perform here," he said, walking over and sitting on the edge of the fountain.

"I certainly hope so," she said, as she took the scarf off her head to dry her feet and then pocketed it, letting her hair loose. It certainly felt good, and she hadn't had her hair down in public in some time. All the local women had loose, long hair, and Ryna didn't see why she couldn't join in, at least for now.
She noticed that the local children all played this game which involved kicking a ball around, with a lot of running as well. It seemed simple enough. "I think you'd be good at that," she said, pointing out the game to Nicolas, although she wasn't pressuring him to join in. Nicolas was very athletic, however, and she wondered if he'd enjoy playing some sports now and then.

Nicolas kept his seat on the edge of the fountain as he watched what his mother was doing, a soft little smile on his face. When she pointed out the game that was being played by some local children he nodded his head slightly and said, "I saw them playing that when I was exploring yesterday, it seems to be a pretty popular thing around here." He was slightly interested in the game but for the time being he was more trying to pick up on the language than trying to find playmates.

Ryna smiled at Nicolas. "Do as you please, son. I trust you will adapt to our new home on your own terms." She hoped he had seen today how much she really did trust him, more than perhaps she had let on in the past. She knew Nicolas didn't like it when she treated him like a child, something any growing boy would have an problem with. And while she still viewed him as her child, subject to her authority and discipline, she also realized that he had earned more freedom to be trusted to take care of himself.
Ryna was splashing her feet in the fountain, enjoying the feeling of the cool water, when she noticed a man looking at her. He was a local, with olive skin and a trim goatee. He was quite handsome, to be honest, a thought Ryna hadn't had about a man in that light in some time. All the men in the troupe were either married or too young for her, and besides, she had needed to focus on raising Nicolas while running the troupe after her husband died.
The man was reading on the other side of the fountain. He nodded at Ryna, and she gave him the slightest of smiles. He smiled back, and returned to his book. Ryna immediately felt a bit silly, like a flirtatious teenager, and she put any more thought of it out of mind.

Nicolas smiled at his mother when she told him to do as he pleased but it was more the fact that she said that she trusted him that really gained the pleased look. He liked hearing that she trusted him and he always tried his best to do things that would make her proud. Granted he was just a young boy and he messed up his fair share but that didn't mean that he didn't try.
The boy was sort of watching the locals while his mother was playing in the fountain so he didn't notice the exchange between her and the local man that was reading. Which might have been a good thing, as thus far he hadn't had to share her with anyone and most likely wouldn't like the idea of her being interested in a man.

After a while at the fountain Ryna finally put her shoes back on and stood up. The man she'd smiled at was still looking at his book, but he did glance up once more.
"I'm going to head back to the camp, son," she said, happy to walk back with Nicolas if he wanted to join her but also happy to let him continue to explore the city on his own. She had had a really lovely afternoon with him, regardless, and she made a mental note to spend more time with him like this from now on.

Nicolas looked over at his mother when she got to her feet and announced that she was heading back to the camp, the boy thinking about that for a few moments before he nodded. "Alright, I think I'm going to keep walking around for awhile," he told her, offering her a slight smile. He wasn't sure what he was going to do but thought that he might find something entertaining to do.
At the very least he was going to find some way to occupy himself.
