Default Trouble in Paradise (Estekapo)

“Mayday, mayday! This is Major Danvers, my aircraft is rapidly dropping in altitude! I need back-up immediately, my coordinates are…”

Stuck behind the wheel of her cockpit, Carol Danvers looked over to her monitor to see her coordinates spinning out of control. Not the untrackable measurement of a quickly decreasing flight - but as if, wherever she was, the map didn’t recognize. Her front-facing view was a bleak image of pure ocean, harsh waves crashing down against the surface of the water hiding a straight drop off into the unknown deep beneath. Behind Danvers, two silhouettes flew close behind inside of strange-shaped Necrocrafts, resembling nothing close to a real airplane in shape or size. From their frontward turrets fired searing hot lasers rather than bullets, one of which had left it’s impression as the wings of Carol’s T-38 Talon as the flaming piece of machinery toppled towards the ocean at frightening speeds.

The radio responded with pure static. “Major Danvers back to location Alpha, I repeat, I have been downed and am being trailed by two hostiles, back-up is needed immediately!” She phoned in again. Flustered with her helplessness, Carol peered over her shoulders at the alien Kree, every shot they took coming closer towards blowing off another chunk of her already deteriorating plane. She was distracted enough that she hadn’t noticed the passing beams phase into seemingly nothing in front of her; looking between the water, then the Kree, then the water again, Danvers waited for the exact right moment…

Right as the ship seemed like it was about to go under, Danvers’ closed her eyes as her cockpit popped open, her seat ejecting along with her as the flaming piece of wreckage tore through the ocean floor. And yet, while the plane should have sunk straight into the deep, it instead scraped along the surface of an unforeseen beach. Carol watched in awe as an island formed before her very eyes. Not just any island, either - a tropical paradise, shrouded in trees, yet bordered by rocky ruins. At least, it would have been; but the Kree’s misfired lasers had set the landscape into a small, controllable blaze while Carol watched her airplane drive a straight line through the sand of the beautiful beach.

The jet continued, spiking itself off it’s nozzle and sending it’s many pieces and fragments of metal catapulting into several different directions. Some toppled trees, others ignited and demolished small pieces of the landscape, and some wedged themselves into the concrete structures surrounding her. Breathing heavily now, Carol found herself asking how she missed such a huge landmass before… but the Kree hadn’t. Their figures appeared behind her in their ships, and Carol looked over her shoulder just in time to see them approach.

Not about to take a chance, Carol cut loose her parachute’s straps and landed on the soft, war-torn beach, breaking into a sprint as she ran for cover into the nearby trees. Bullets fired quickly after her, tearing into the surface of the sand and making short work of demolishing an overbearing statue that stood facing the coast. Carol cringed as the piece toppled to the ground, crushing a tree on the way. Equipping a mere pistol from her side, Carol ran between trees as she fired off rounds. Whatever bullets didn’t miss merely bounced off the superior alien technology. The Kree returned fire with piping hot lasers.

With a grunt of uncertainty, Carol grit her teeth and revealed herself from behind her newest defense - a short, stone wall - and held her hands out in front of her. The lasers met their target… but rather than incinerate Danvers on the spot, they merely collapsed into her skin and vanished within her arms. With a soft exhale, Carol lifted both hands back up, power surging through her veins, and shot the beams straight back towards their senders, now as long, concentrated beams erupting straight from her palms.

The Kree had no time to react. Both ships went down in smoking flurries, collapsing into the far pastures to the sound of crumbling pillars and marble sheds. Carol listened for any sign of life beyond the hills… and finally let her guard down.

With the danger passed, Danvers huffed. “Location Alpha, threats have been neutralized. No thanks to you.” She breathed heavily into her intercom. “Now to-.”

The sound of static answered her message. Carol held her intercom out in front of her, listening to the crackling sound on the other side. Wherever she was, she had no signal… wherever she was.

Another day, another day. That kind of phrase seemed rather simple but that how things were for Diana the princess of the Amazons, as she walked towards the barns were her horse was and where she would take care of it by feeding, cleaning and maybe make the equine do some exercise by riding it into another trip to some place in her home island Temiscira, an unique paradise blessed by the Gods of the Olympus that protected their habitats from the outside world, specially for the man, and where she lived in peace and simple way with her Amazon sisters and her mother the queen Hippolyta.

Being created by her mother with the mud of the island, in the times of the ancient Greek, Diana grown from that small little baby to a beautiful and strong woman that resembled to Hippolyta in her young age with her long black hair coming all the way down to her lower back, her young face and a pair of beautiful soft light blue eyes, that even if they looked kind and warm, they could easily turn into a fierce stare of a fighters, something she proudly was, after all as the daughter of queen she had been trained not only to be an unconquerable warrior like every Amazon but also to be the best just like her mother was, something that she proved every single time she spared against other strong Amazon’s in fights with swords, spears, arrows or simple one on one combat with their fists.

After she reached to barns and began to brush the lonely black horse that was there for her, she began to brush the beautiful animal while in her duty she lost herself in her thoughts, like ultimately she had done. As much as she loved this island and how found everything inside it, Diana couldn’t help but feel like this one had nothing else for her, since the bless of Hera not only protect every single habitant in the island from the outside world but also from the time and with that death by it (unless of course someone died in an accident or killed of course), so since the moment she was created by her mother in the centuries ago, she had all that time not only to develop skills in fight and other arts but also read every book that the library of the palace had as well explore every inch in this island in order to learn the secrets that she still didn’t new about. But now she has came into a wall where there was nothing else inside this island that she could learn or discover for herself, and it depressed her somewhat but deny it would not avoid the truth, she wanted to leave this island and learn about the outside world.

Suddenly all her thoughs were interrupted by the shriek of the horse, that unlike other times didn’t wanted food, or go for a walk but instead this was alarmed by something that was coming. And so, soon Diana heard a sound she never heard before on the outside of the barn, which force her to go to the outside and see in firsthand what with her ears had suspected after listening to that sound. Something from the outside world, which looked a lot to a ship, fall and crashed towards the outside of the island, most likely where the old temples were near the beaches, and by the sounds of explosions she heard she was pretty sure that not only the destroyed itself but also everything that crashed with.

Without wasting any second the black haired woman ran towards her horse where she soon she climb it and began to ride it towards the direction where the ship landed, trying to surpass her Amazon sister that surely were also heading towards that direction in order to defend the paradise, most likely being commanded by Artemisa, whose had a small friendly rivalry with her and she always managed to defeat the red haired Amazon. However luckily for Diana her horse gave her an advantage over the other Amazon’s that surely were running on feet towards the beach, also the location of the barn was near that place and last but not less important, she knew this island better than anyone, thanks to the countless of times she had dabbled with her horse or with by herself in her search to learn more, so her advantage over the group that surely was heading towards that place was huge, and she knew that there was no way they could arrive before her.

And so her speculations were confirmed were Diana was the first one that arrived towards what was left of the beaches and the old temples of the island. After getting down from her horse she began to see all the destruction that the thing from the other world made when this crashed down, there were pieces of the old temples burning in fire while also some of the trees were broken along with some dead animals that were near that place and were killed at the unlucky accident. However there was something that called her attention the most and was a voice that she heard there from something, or better said someone, and that someone was a blonde haired woman that was trying to talk to her fallen ship in a kinda ridicule attempt since that thing was completely destroyed, so she didn’t understood what she was doing, however that was not why she was here, she was here to confront the intruder “Who are you and what are you doing?” Diana asked with a serious and firm voice to call the attention of the new ‘guest’ that she had in front of her.

A simple smack across her radio’s wire didn’t give Carol the response she was hoping for. With an expectant sigh, Captain Marvel looked up and surveyed the surroundings she had landed in. The island truly had materialized out of nowhere, but lucky it had; she came within minutes of plunging into straight ocean, miles off-shore and with two airborne Kree to defend against. So, deciding not to question her luck, Carol instead turned her attention to the problem arisen from her circumstance - she had no way off this island. With a huff, she turned around, eyeing the towering mountains and ancient ruins that bordered the sealine and landscape. Wherever this place was, it didn’t seem to be used for much. The temples were Ancient Greek and Roman in design, and there wasn’t any signs of life besides them. Until Carol looked to the left, where a Kree warrior’s ship had crashed, and saw she had attracted an audience.

She had to squint to see the line-up of heads all baring different skin tones and hair colors. Only one thing could be deduced from their distance; all seemed to be women, and some appeared to be wearing golden, royal helmets. Carol shook her head and blinked twice, just to be certain what she was seeing was no mirage. She got her confirmation as a voice spoke up from across the beach, and she was met with one of her observer’s up-close.

Carol stopped in her tracks, looking over the newcomer standing in mere sandals on the beach. A tall, muscular, well-tanned woman, this lady wore a royal-appearing outfit but one obviously customed for a hot environment. That was, to say, her toned, long legs were almost entirely uncovered in their radiant glory. Carol found herself doing a double-take as she looked to the strange woman, but wasted no time acting on greeting her. Islanders made everything more complicated.

“...natives?” Carol asked, at first dumbfounded. Her question answered itself, so she shook her head without allowing Diana to answer. A loud wolf-whistle followed.

“Sorry, miss. Is anyone else on this island? Maybe, more like you?” Carol asked, a bit hopefully, while conspicuously checking out Diana’s bare legs. Many more questions could stand to follow after, but Carol stopped herself. She was the outsider, after-all, and such an entry as her own was likely jarring to a primitive tribe like whomever seemed to live here. “I’m Major Carol Danvers, United States air force. Rest assured, the situation is defused and your locals are safe.” She explained. Then, putting her hands to her hip, squinted her eyes. “So, if you don’t mind telling me...” Carol mused. “Where am I?”

Since the day her mother bring her to life, Diana had only learned about the exterior world only for the books and from the few times she dared herself to ask her mother the queen about it; she would say dare since those times the young Amazon questioned the strong queen about how the exterior world was or what could she found there, her mother only had nasty and bad things to say about it, calling it a place where absolutely nothing is sacred or respected due to the nature of the man, where the discrimination of genders made the life of those that are different of the rest a long psychological torture, where the racism not only attacked many races but also the religions and the ways to think, where the woman barely had a second place in society behind the man to which they had to please by making a denigration of themselves to them. Basically it was described as a living hell, however Diana knew that there was good things in that world and her mother did too, that’s why she realized that all those bad comments she made about the outside world where more an attempt to protect her than anything else.

And the woman in front of her was the prove of what she had suspected all along. After her presentation she could see she was a soldier and not only any soldier but a Major no less, which told her that woman’s in the outside world could also battle along man, but also she could see how friendly and outgoing she was, just like many of her Amazon sisters were, although she had to admit that she was very daring to have that cool attitude knowing full well that she was an intruder. An intruder that just managed to destroy a part of this paradise along with some old sacred places that were there since the creation of the island. Her mother will surely be very upset by hearing that.

Focusing back to the unexpected guess she had in front of her, Diana managed to just stay with the same serious semblance as the blonde haired woman speak to her, only raising an eyebrow when she asked for the possibility that there could be more like her, when she clearly knew that she was checking her out, no doubt this woman seemed to someone to take care off, although she now knew that she wasn’t attacking this island, since she really seem to not know where she was right now, but still she maintained her guard up.

“Greetings Carol Danvers, my name is Diana, and to answer your first question, yes there are many like me in this island, in fact I can tell they are coming here to capture you after that quiet arrival you made to this island” the black haired young Amazon said looking at the destroyed sacred temples along with the fallen trees and the dead animals “So if I were you I’ll stay here and don’t run, that could make your situation a lot whole worse” Diana said before she added “Don’t worry we’re not going to kill you, but there’s many question we’ll need to ask you” in order to calm down the blonde woman.

“And for where you are…” Diana said before stopping and thinking again what she was about to say, she couldn’t know why but she seemed to actually feel comfortable around this strange woman, to the point she was telling this to her when she should have tried to capture the intruder, but still she found her presence something comfortable, however she needed to be careful for her Amazon sister in not telling any important information. “you’ll soon find it out, but now you need to know that you’re in the southwest beach of this island, a place where the old relics and temples are or at least where before you arrived” says looking at the fire that was consuming the temple and the destroyed debris of those temples that were all around them.

Trying to communicate with this pretty Princess Carol was looking at was more a matter of formality than anything. This island seemed off the grid, still on par with Ancient Greeks in term of technology - if they had a written word yet it wouldn’t be in English. Attempting communication was merely a form of showing she was sophisticated enough to speak and not just shoot first - and, less importantly, make crude comments that Amazonian ears couldn’t translate. It was already exceeding expectations for this strangely-dressed beauty to ask who she was. Imagine her surprise when she continued to ask and answer questions in perfect English - Carol’s cheeks heated up knowing her passing flirty comment before was not lost on her new companion. Still one to save face, Carol steeled up and nodded as she approached, her hands on her hips.

“Pleasure to meet you, lady Diana.” Carol returned the gesture, allowing herself to get lost in shamelessly scoping the Princess’s body as she continued speaking. A brief pass of Diana’s words, and Carol was distracted, only catching a select few - that, when pieced together, really caught her attention. “Wait, what.” Carol asked, bluntly, as Diana continued to talk over her. The Amazon just reported her casual intended kidnapping very nonchalantly, and Carol had to read her expression just to make sure she wasn’t joking. Whoever this woman was, they didn’t seem to have sarcasm where she is from. The feeling of being watched suddenly weighed down on Carol’s shoulders. She looked around, feeling a pair of eyes watching her from every bush and behind every tree… yet, the beach was empty. Aside from the two of them.

“‘Southwest beach.’” Carol frowned, before laughing aloud. “‘Southwest beach?!’ That’s not a location, sweetheart! I need a name! Coordinates!” She explained, crossing her arms as she stepped forward much closer to Diana now. “Don’t tell me you’re all body and no brains. Did you say you had soldiers coming to capture me? How so?” Scraping her boot across the sand, Carol cocked her head disbelievingly. Fitting Diana’s description, the beach was in shambles; a giant path was torn through the sand, smoke rising from the wreckage of both Kree fighters and her own plane in the distance of the island. Cracked pieces of marble tumbled down from the mountainside rested along the ground, but Carol stayed stoic. “Sorry about your ‘artifacts.’ but while I don’t believe in killing civilians, I do believe in self-defense. I guarantee you, the United States has bigger guns than what you’ve got here.” She grimaced, her voice condescending as she stared down through Diana.

A name. Coordinates. Diana indeed did well by not telling her the name of Temiscira to the blonde outsider and use that useless response she could see that this soldier wasn’t playing around or trying to confuse she referred to where she was, something that meant that if that was the case, this woman called Carol was honest which contradicted with many of the stories and things that her mother had about the outside world and it’s habitants, still the black haired Amazon would not let make her drop her guard down because of that, after it hadn’t been half of an hour since this outsider woman arrived to the island and she already not only destroyed part of the woods, the beach and the wildlife but also the most ancient and most historical temples and relics which value couldn’t be pay by all the gold in the entire world, so no matter how nice or gentle this soldier could look, Diana would not let that trick her.

Doing her best to surpass the anger and rage that the outsider woman provoked on her after she not only called the sacred ancient relics of the island ‘artifacts’ in a contemptuous way but also insulted her intelligence all because of not believing her warning about her Amazon sisters coming towards the directions where they were right now, Diana watched how the blonde soldier began to slowly advance towards her witch mad her hands turn into fists while they remained on her sides, and her muscles tense in order to warm them for a possible fight that she could have now, even when ‘Carol’ stood not that far away from her and ranted about willing to defend herself for any kind of attack that she may suffer and about the place where she comes from having weapons way more powerful, bigger and destructive than the ones that the Amazonians could have, which could be true if she watched them for herself, but still by the look of this soldier she have in front of her, she was pretty sure that the Amazons were stronger in one on one combat that at least thirty soldiers of the ‘United States’.

“I know it’s not a location, I just wanted to really know if you weren’t lying about not knowing about this island, since you’re the first ever person from the outside that has step foot in here…and in case you didn’t realize what I mean, it’s not common that people from the outside came here, if they didn’t knew about the existence of this” Diana answered with a firm voice towards the blonde, not wanting to mention the invisible barrier that surrounds the island since that will be giving too much information and also was very confusing. How did she managed to see through the barrier? That was impossible for someone from the outside, did this meant that the barrier was broken? Or just weakened? No she didn’t had to think about that now, her mother the queen may be more wiser to think how to get that information later, and if that was the case she should take the outsider soldier with her towards the palace.

“That’s because they are coming where we are…’sweatheart’” Diana said with a small venom in her voice to return the comment towards Carol “Luckily I the stables aren’t that far away from here, and I used my horse to get an advantage of ten minutes over them… however since we have been talking for about five minutes now I think we must wait other five minutes before they could arrive here” the black haired Amazon said showing some smartness to the blonde in order to answer that previous comment about her brain before she began to walk towards the outsider “So please don’t try to run or escape, like I told you, they will not kill you, unless you force us to do it, we just want some answers for you and you will answer them, since you just have become an unwelcome intruder, since those ‘artifacts’ as you call them have been a treasure to this island way before the ‘United States’ even existed” The Amazon princess said standing now in front of the blonde “Oh and about your weapons? They must be useful if you know where or what to attack, and since you don’t know about this island I can guess the United States either, so I would not worry about an attack, still I and my Amazon sisters don’t want any conflict, we live in peace and we want that way to remain, so please do me and yourself a favor, don’t try to escape”.
