Default Tutorial for a total newb

Alright, anyone who knows me from AOTK knows my specialty is writing, and I'd like to think I'm relatively competent at the craft. But the one thing that I've wanted to try for a while has been drawing. Not just spanking (though I admit drawing a well whupped tush would be fun XD) but just as something to do in my spare time.

So, I guess my question is, can anyone recommend some good starting tutorials for someone who doesn't really have much evident skill in the craft?

I think Zero posted one once. Drawing is just one of those things, everybody does it a different way. Some people do the whole circles and lines grid sketch thing for human figures, some people go more a more free form approach, some people use other pictures for reference like human models and such.

Try a few different approaches and see what works best for you. Drawing is a learned skill in a way. Natural imagination and talent will help you, but the only real way to get better is to practice and try new things. The more you draw, the more types of things you draw, the better you get. Also, don't worry about color at first, coloring is it's own beast. I'll admit I'm not very good at it that's why I tend to just stick to black and white. I've "ruined" many of my older pictures by trying to color them. Computers help here though because you could always upload something and color it a thousand different ways without messing with the original.

I have no skills with computer art yet though. But there are loads of tutorials and products out there so I think I'm just intimidated by the array of options. But I suppose practice makes perfect still applies here as well. A bit trite as far as advice goes, but it's true.

I did indeed make a little tutorial that showed my drawing process. Not sure how useful it really is though.

Here it is, if you are interested:
