Attention! Voting is now CLOSED.
Non-voters are to ponder their inadequacies as human beings, the judging panel is collating their opinions to be announced later.
That is all.

No way, the voting went on the ONLY two weeks I did not have internet connection? NO FAIR!
Oh well, I was going to two for cheekygirl and I see that at least she got to be in the top three. But for one vote (that would have been mine?) she would have gotten a tie for the first place. Oh, the timing!

Judge's Commentary
Whew! Apologies for the delay, folks. Took a while to get all the correspondence together and summarize it for ease of consumption. There were a lot of strong entries for this one, but after a bit of debate we settled on a winner! You can just skip to the bottom if you're curious, but first a brief overview of the panel's comments of each entry!
All Spankings Lead to Rome - Rak
-Nice attention to detail, especially in the arms and armor on the Romans and the woad body paint.
-Including seven full-body people in the pic is impressive and must have made for some tricky logistics...
-...but it probably has one woman too many; the one on the far left seems to fuse with the legs of the spankee.
-Pretty as the photoshopped background looks, it doesn't fit with the look of your art. Trees and shrubs need love too. ;_;
Sacred Catgirls - februaryleaf
-Very cute concept! Little non-specific on the historical aspect/details, though.
-Art is more intricate than it looks at first glance; viewing the full-sized entry helps here.
-Coloring is sort of flat. Some more shading would have given it greater depth.
-Much love for the smug-looking cat in panel two.
Hieroglyphics - Rahl
-Hand painted, and you treated your own paper? You get a 10 for effort, no doubt. Good lord.
-Excellent imitation of a specific historical style, even though it necessitated making the picture sparse.
-Clearly put some thought into the composition as far as choice of deity goes, etc.
Skinny Dipping Princess - MisatoUchiha
-This one's sort of a stretch for the theme. It really gives a stronger 'fantasy' vibe than a 'historical' one.
-Not that it isn't a charming theme in itself... Top-down composition and full coloring are both nice to see.
-Legs look a little out of proportion too, but the armor and cape both came out nicely.
The Pillory - Confused_Spider4
-Solid overall, with some small inconsistencies; spankee's headsize and the spanker's proportions.
-Only entry to make use of historical restraints? Bonus! Only one to use an implement? Double-bonus!
-Picking an identifiable historical era is nice, but giving it a stronger sense of period would be even better...
Rosy the Riveter - cheekygirl
-Who says spankings have to be bare-bottom? An affectionate parody that clearly plays to your strengths.
-Minimal background cost you some points, however.
-Yay for greasestains; also freckles.
Paranormal Problems - Exodus
-Clever idea for the picture
-Coloring strongly evokes Ye Olde Time-y photography
-Almost Zero context in the drawing itself. Letting the description and title carry it puts it at a severe disadvantage.
-*mumblemumblemumble*... Missed opportunity with the background text there.
Katherine & the Malingerer - XiaolinLilith
-Lovely shades of greying, but might be too subtle for your own good.
-Without a background to emphasize it, it's mostly limited to the shine on Kath's hair.
-A little snippet of text that adds to the picture rather than limiting it.
-Only F/M of the contest, funnily enough. Keep buckin' that trend.
A Wife, Punished - iloveforks
-Linework and proportions need some work, but the picture barely suffers for it because...
-Pretty much hands down the most detail of any contest entry by far.
-Plus gramatically correct Latin.
-Plus Plus an amusing take on actual historical figures/events
Chevalier d'Eon - TheWunderkind
-Going with d'Eon is an inspired choice. If he wasn't part of the historical record, I wouldn't believe he existed.
-Having said that, the picture would be stronger if it wasn't so tightly confined to d'Eon himself.
-Again, the French text is nice but as a contest entry, you're leaning too heavily on it.
-The full comic sounds like it'll be a lot of fun, so keep working on that.
Cowboys & Indians - DT
-Very nearly cute enough to get away with the 1950's Hollywood take on the costumes. No seriously, that's adorable.
-The threat of death kinda works against you in that department, though. And against your style in general.
-Multiple pairings, with distinct poses and situations
Summer of 1923 - El Mantonegro
-Not sepia-toned, strictly speaking but the choice of colors conveys the overall feel quite well.
-Fashion looks like something straight out of P.G. Wodehouse, very nice.
-And yet, it would have been a stronger entry with some implication of what caused the spanking
That (In)Famous Smile - Weaver
-Makes hands cramp just looking at all that cross-hatching.
-Amusing twist on a famous scene.
-Pretty much the most technically proficient piece in the contest. Post more often.
So, after all that the Judge's pick issssss....
'A Wife, Punished' by iloveforks!
Congratulations! Thanks to everyone who entered. Your contributions to this contest--and the site in general!--are what keeps us going strong. Stay tuned for our next contest. ETA... Sometime in the next six months! Suspensful!

I am working on posting more often, but this newest project is taking a fair amount of time to finish.
You'll agree that it'll be worth the wait once I post all of it.
^_^
And Congrats to iloveforks !!!

There is no individuality. There is only... The Judging Panel.
