The captain scolded just as heatedly as he caught hold of Spock's wrist, firmly pulling it up and pinning it at the small of his back "Not only did you fail to inform me of your whereabouts, putting yourself at a horrendous risk might I just add," he punctuated that with another smack just above the Vulcan's thighs "You stole a shuttle from the hangar bay and then proceeded to get said shuttle lost to enemy fire--and that's not even mentioning your dawdling! Do you really think so little of me and my orders that you felt you must ignore them?"

"OW!" Spock yelled and bucked powerfully, flailing over the Captain's knees. "Owww! I do not think little of you, I required time alone to think, why is such a thing so wrong?" he asked, a growl in his throat and he twisted, trying to get free. "Captain, I did nothing wrong." the Vulcan maintained his innocence.

"I find that very hard to believe; if you had any regard for my authority as well as my concern for you, then you would have either stayed on the ship and wait for me to find you, or, requested the appropriate leave like a responsible adult," Jim felt it was his duty to correct for Spock, bracing him tighter against his lap as he did so "You behaved inappropriately, irresponsibly and with basic contempt!"

"Captain, do not scold me as though I am a child!" Spock snapped back and sighed, pushing up from the man's lap. "I do not need to be punished!" he maintained again and gripped the man's leg hard, trying to get out of the punishment.

"As long as you continue to act like a child, you will be treated exactly as that!" Jim scolded once again, quickly using his free hand to yank down Spock's underwear and land a sharp spank against the centre of his already heavily bruised backside "You need punishing; you need to be taught, evidently; manners, right from wrong and who knows what else," he alternated between his under-curve to centre in rhythmic time "And until you learn such, then you will find yourself across my lap over and over and over again until it finally sinks in; if I'm to be the one responsible, Spock, then I'll do it as if you were my very own!"

Spock's eyes widened when he felt a breeze brush over his bottom and he shook his head, "Jim, please ....not bare..." he pleaded with the man and felt the tears build in his eyes. "Do not make me sound like such a case!" he snapped, sounding hurt by that, "Captain I...do not see why what I did was wrong.....please...." the Vulcan then started to cry.

It pained Jim to hear his friend beginning to cry; but regardless he knew he had to carry on with the punishment at hand, though he did begin to lighten the smacks when it seemed as if Spock was willing to show some compliance "Alright, I'll explain; if by some chance we hadn't have been able to track the shuttle you took and you had been attacked--we wouldn't have known. You'd have been easily killed and we'd have just had to assume the body would never be recovered," he explained further as he continued to lay the lightened smacks more upon the centre of the Vulcan's bottom rather than the under-curve "As well as that, your lying as to where you were, what you were doing and what you said you would do communicates that not only do you hold no respect for myself, but for your own position and the responsibilities that entails; how am I to trust you on a mission if you've shown evidence of simply not caring?"

Spock felt more tears slide down his cheeks at the explanation, seeing what he'd done in such a bright negative light was painful. "I did realize...that lying was not the right thing to do...however I did not realize anything other." he informed "I do care Captain, I care that I have acted so irresponsibly...that my actions have been appalling..." he sobbed harder and gripped Jim's leg. "Captain, please write a report to Star Fleet, I do not....deserve to be shielded from utmost punishment from the council. I am sorry Captain, I have disgraced you."

Almost as quickly as Jim had started the punishment did it finally stop "Shh, shh, Spock," he soothed, moving his hand away from the Vulcan's bear backside and up to his back, rubbing it gently in order to soothe the worst of his sobs. He contemplated Spock's request for a moment; although as a Vulcan he wasn't prone to hysterics, he couldn't really judge it, for the moment as a truly rational request.
"Spock...if Starfleet were to get involved, chances are that all they'll do is either transfer or dismissal," he started, far softer than a moment ago "A transfer would do nothing but put you in unfamiliar surroundings with no curb for your behaviour, as would a dismissal, and I'd be out the best first officer and friend I've ever known." It took the captain a few moments to let that sink in, he'd never really done well with expressing sentimentalities but it stood as strong all the same "I want to help you Spock, that includes working on this behaviour of your's...I don't think Starfleet can do that for you..."
