Spock would have felt relief being told the punishment was done, had he not desired to repress such beastly things. He nodded, though his eyes widened slightly when Jim assumed an expression so much like Spock's Father, though he decided not to comment on that for obvious reasons. "Indeed Captain, the punishment has served its purpose I believe." he answered and cleared his throat slightly. "Captain...I am confused. Are you going to assume the role of my Father from this point on?"

Jim considered Spock's question for a moment before allowing a small grin to pass his lips "Look at it logically, Spock," the captain couldn't help but gently emphasising before continuing with steady conviction "Your behaviour these past few days has, as you've seen, persisted in compromising your impulse control; judging by the vandalism done to my room, I feel I have no choice but to assume the role before something worse comes of it."

He returned to his classic, 'James T. Kirk' air with an equally classic grin "In short; yes Spock, I'm gonna be your father."

"Indeed, while I am not a child, I cannot deny that certain...childlike impulses attempt to control me at times. Such an impulse could render me incapable of duty and so such actions should be dealt with in punishment." he answered. Hearing the confirmation from the Captain was odd, but Spock accepted it, it was logic after all considering all that had happened.

"And I am to address you as Father, or as Captain?"

"On deck? Captain." Jim confirmed without a moment's hesitation "I doubt that you'd want the rest of the crew pondering over your business, afterall. In private, however, you have a choice," his voice seemed to brighten with some humour at the declaration "Father, dad, pop--whatever it is you feel most comfortable with. Just so long as it's not 'old man' we're golden,"

Spock nodded his head, "Indeed, even if it were you being my biological Father, I would have addressed you by your station when you assume it." he said and then frowned hearing what Jim said next. "I believed I am familiar only with the term 'Father' if you permit it, that shall be my choice of addressing." he said and then winced as he felt his backside stinging.

The wince gripping against Spock's expression didn't go unnoticed by Jim, infact, he had to work not to let the flickers of mild bemusement come to light; he didn't think for a moment that there was anything funny about the situation, it was just a relief to think that maybe they were finally taking the right steps towards progress "Alright son; I think it's time you gave that backside of your's some time to rest," the newfound father's expression turned to one of moderate concern "If I relieve you of duty for the day, can you be trusted to stay out of trouble and rest?"

Spock looked upon his new Father and nodded his head, hearing what he had to say. "Yes Father, I believe I can rest without finding trouble and or reason to be punished once more." he answered, tone respectful and face stoic as usual. "Good night." he said before climbing into the bed on his side, so as not to put pressure on his tender bottom.

"Good night Spock," Jim returned as he regarded Spock with an almost tender glance; unable to help but notice how careful his new son appeared to be about his smarting rear end. As the other appeared to settle in against the pillow, he found himself reaching out to gently drape the covers across his boy's shoulders; absentmindedly giving it a little tuck to ensure of its' comfort.
"Sweet dreams," The captain softly murmured to him, brushing his palm against the back of Spock's smooth-cut hair as he turned to leave him to sleep.

Even as a child, the 'ritual' of being tucked into bed by a parent, had not come about. His Father was unaffectionate (being Vulcan) and his mother did not seem to want to show him any affection, other than crying in private when he would come home teased by other Vulcan children. Still, he felt warm and comforted by the action, his inner human child needing it. "Thank you, Father." he answered softly before closing his eyes and falling into a deep sleep.

Although the captain was, simply put, exhausted from the evening's affairs; Jim didn't feel that he could even begin to try settling down for sleep for quite some time yet. His mind was still reeling; alright, so maybe a few uniforms would have to be put on order as part of their next pick-up, that was fine, Jim went through atleast a shirt a week on some of their more taxing missions. What was really keeping his eyes from closing was concern for Spock; although he was a capable officer in his field, it was becoming all too clear to Jim that he would need to keep a closer eye on the half-Vulcan when beaming down planet-side.
So, rather than head to his bed, Jim Kirk found himself sitting down at his personal desk in order to review the rotas for the next week or so--it was better to try and be prepared for the next few missions, right?
