A Vulcan's comeuppance - Ruby/Jade

Well, Spock would have gone immediately down to the engine room, but looking up into his Father's eyes...how could he deny him? He wanted him with him specifically so Spock was willing to beam down with his Father, knowing he needed him. "Indeed Captain, I shall be happy to accompany you." he answered, his thin lips curving into something of a smile before he regained stoic composure. "When did you wish to depart?"

"Right now; no sense in letting any valuable time go to waste," Jim instructed as he made move back towards the bridge doors; glancing over his shoulder to add one more note as they made their way down the corridor "I've issued you a new communicator by the way Spock, in light of the last one being lost with the shuttle, it should be waiting by the transporter--you will remember to keep it on this time, I trust?"

"Very well Captain." Spock answered and followed the man off the bridge down to the transporter room. "Um..yes of course Father." he answered, since it was just the two of them he felt it would be alright to call him by that title. He managed to keep a blush off his face, remembering the hiding he got for taking the communicator off last time.

"Good boy," Jim praised fondly of his son, emphasised with a gentle pat to his shoulder for emphasis before leading them on towards the transporter room, narrating as he did so "If all goes well we should be in and out before any major damage can be done--Scotty? Prepare to energize,"

The Vulcan nodded his head and glanced to his Father. Stepping into the transporter room and then onto the transporter pad, he stood at his Father's side and glanced to Scotty briefly.

"Alrighty Jim." Scotty answered, standing by and then nodding. "On yer command, Cap'n." he informed.

"Energize." Jim obliged once he and Spock were situated over their respective pads. For a few moments, all the captain saw was the familiar glow of the transporter's beam along with the feint buzzing that often accompanied these trips. Ofcourse, such sensations never lasted long and before the captain knew it he and Spock were situated in, what appeared to be what was left of an empty bar "This..." Jim momentarilly trailed, glancing around at the cluttered area in confusion "Is new...?"

Glancing around at the remains of the bar, Spock frowned, running finger tips along the surface of demolished wood -- and somehow not gaining a single splinter. "I am not sure..." he answered, looking over to Jim.

"The co-ordinates are right," Jim assured, mostly to himself, as he checked his communicator once more. This time when he glanced "Whatever the distress signal was, looks as if it's happened...Come one," the captain suddenly motioned, walking over towards a doorway just off towards the back of the room "We're gonna have to scout around for any...survivors...I want you to stay close to me, Spock, incase this is some sort of a trap," the glance that he gave the Vulcan indicated no room for argument over the matter--if whoever or whatever had done this to the bar was still lurking around then he didn't want his son's poor impulses getting the better of him at this point.

"Yes Father." Spock answered respectfully as his curious gaze wandered around their surroundings. "Perhaps those who gave the distress call managed to evacuate sir." he suggested, thinking that a more ...light scenario then a massive slaughter. Though which one seemed more likely, remained to be seen. Still, he stayed close to his Father, following him out of the remains of the bar.

"Most likely, but I don't want to take any chances," Jim told him, though he knew Spock was probably right; it was just the sudden...silence...that truly unsettled him...something just didn't feel totally right with it...
