Spock glanced around, a deep look in his dark brown eyes as he took in their current surroundings. Hearing to lay out a few towels and relax, the Vulcan shot him an abrupt look of confusion. "Captain, this is hardly the time....never mind the place." he answered and his pointed eyebrows lowered in a frown, "Do you think there is still life on the surface?" he asked, glancing around again for any signs of life, "Allow me to survey, Captain." he said before heading off across the claustrophobic planet, the surface crunching beneath his feet.

"As you wish Spock," Jim nodded with the hint of a chuckle playing still at his lips; as bewildering as Vulcan mannerisms could be, the bluntness that Spock seemed to harbour never truly served to annoy him as it did Bones. But then again, Bones was a bit of a cynic wasn't he?
The captain sauntered along just behind his first officer, taking a moment to reach out to one of the blades of grass; it crumbled into sharp fragments beneath his very touch "It's strange, the air feels thicker, heavier even...Do you suppose such conditions are capable of supporting life?" he glanced around once again, frowning as something caught the corner of his eye...a glint of some kind "Spock, did you see that?"

"I do not know, but if there are signs of life, then we need to seek out and assist." Spock answered, glancing to the Captain briefly before quickening his pace. It wasn't until Jim asked if he saw something that Spock stopped and turned to look at him fully. "I did not, what is it that you saw Captain?" he asked, his hand going to his phaser just in case, it was set to stun so he figured even if it was a civilian it was better to be safe than to be sorry.

"Not sure, some sort of glow skittering past into that clearing," Jim explained before quickly following Spock's lead and motioning over his shoulder "Come on, we'd better go check it out."
With no time to lose, Jim set off into a stealthy jog over towards where...whatever it was...had disappeared into; but try as he might there seemed to be no way to maintain any sort of discrepancy among the plant-life--grass crunched violently beneath his feet and the branches laying under it were as spiny and hard as a razor-backed hedgehog. Still, the two of them made it through without too much bother, though found themselves slowing once another, stronger and far more eerie glow began to splinter through the branches "Now, what do you suppose...?"
It was a strange sight alright, a warm orange glow dampening out the tight tangle of vegetation; what was that thing, some sort of ship? Another Sun? He wouldn't know until they'd crossed the boundary out of the brush he supposed. He glanced over to Spock, wondering whether the Vulcan could help shed some sort of light on the matter.

Spock wasn't quite sure what the Captain had seen, and he wasn't fond of the idea of Jim going to see what it was alone, so he was quick to go to his side, walking in step with the Captain. He picked up the pace, the ground beneath them being a bit of an obstacle but nothing that could really stop them. Sure they slowed for one another but otherwise they kept a good pace. The Vulcan stopped when they neared the eerie glowing substance through the brush and he honestly had no insight to what it could be. He would have to venture closer.
"I shall see. Captain." he said, treading the earth carefully and striding through the brush with an abrupt action. Quickly the Vulcan had to shield his eyes, before him was a large gathering of embassy ships. "Captain, do not come closer." he ordered, taking one step closer and listening as foreign words were spoke to him through a com. "Klingon...."

The realisation of Spock's reveal washed over Jim with grave result "This far out? Are you sure?" he had to ask as he craned his neck to try and catch any kind of conformational glimpse of a scout, a soldier, anyone who would no doubt be sporting a healthy lust for blood and a spike with which to mount a severed head.
"Can you see what they're doing from here Spock?" he tried to push back any sense of immediate alarm; the Klingons were a powerful race with one of the grimiest reputations Star Fleet had to present, but considering where that reputation had come from it wasn't exactly a pleasure to try and reckon with their stray scouts. Still...if they were infringing on the terms of Star-Fleet's treaty then, Jim sighed at the thought, they would have to take some sort of action.

Spock nodded his head, speaking to Jim through the communication devices. "Indeed, I recognize the language Captain." he confirmed and frowned over to the many small ships that were pointing lights at him. He suddenly wished Uhura was with him, she was fluent in their language, Spock had no clue what they were saying. "Do you think you could patch through a voice recording of Klingon speech to the Enterprise and have it translated?" he asked, now recording the sound waves using the device on his wrist. Whatever the alien race were saying, they sounded aggressive.

"Scotty willing, we should be able to," Jim murmured as he took great care to step just a little further out of the orange lights' range. He flipped the top of his communicator in one brisk motion "Hopefully they won't be able to pick up on our frequency, Kirk to enterprise," he began "Scotty are you there?"

Scotty was quick to respond, "Aye Cap'n. What do ye need?" he asked and then listened as they explained they needed a quick translation. "Coming up Mr. Spock." he answered and patched it through, with the help of Chekov and Uhura, they were able to translate the message. And it was none too friendly.
You are a member of Star Fleet. You have officially declared war by crossing a Klingon operation, or do you surrender?
Spock listened and he raised his chin, "Orders, Captain?"

The Captain felt his brow darkening at the situation "In a perfect world, we wouldn't have to cower at this ultimatum," he murmured, mental cogs furiously working to come up with any tactic that would allow them, all of his crew-members that was, to pull through the situation alive and, preferably, unscathed.
After a brief moment Jim turned a glance up towards Spock "Considering that our cover's blown, what would our chances be of warping out of air-space before they could launch an attack?"
