Lilian looked at her son when he snapped at her about his bedtime and she sighed and said, "Because you're crabby and having a tantrum like a toddler, that's why. It seems like you can't handle staying up later." She didn't say that in an unkind voice but it was still stern and it was clear that Peter was pushing it with her right now.

Hearing the sound of her son growling caused Lilian to frown but she didn't bother to say anything about that and instead just suggested that the two of them should do something together. She shook her head when he said that he didn't want to, saying as she did so, "Fine, then you can stay here and sulk."


Neal shook his head when his daddy countered what he had said about the spanking but then he was distracted by the argument between the three of them. That was something that he didn't like and he ended up putting his hands over his ears as though someone was shouting, even though they weren't, and shaking his head. "No fights," the little boy said.

Peter glared at his Mom when she said he was having a tantrum like a toddler. "I'm done here." he answered, pushing his plate away and then forcing himself not to huff when she told him to just stay home and sulk. "Gladly." he answered before turning and heading up to his room, slamming the door to make a point.

Andrew sighed and watched Peter go, "I don't know what's gotten into that boy recently...he seems...so much more disrespectful than usual...I've never seen him snap at you like that..." he said to his wife and then pulled Neal up and onto his lap. "Shh Neal, no one's fighting, Peter's just sulking." he told him and rubbed his back before then glancing at the time.

"I'm gonna get Neal dressed and head out to the park, you can come if you want, hon." Andrew said, standing up with little Neal in his arms.

Lilian watched as her son pushed his plate away and said that he was done before saying that he'd gladly stay home and sulk. He was officially at the end of her nerves even before he stormed off and then slammed the door, her gaze going to her husband when Andrew made his comment about the boy. "I'm going to have a word with him, I am tired of getting attitude that I don't deserve," she said, shaking her head at the offer of going to the park. "That's okay sweetie, you and Neal go and have fun," she told him, going over and giving her husband a kiss before she turned to make her way upstairs once again.

This time around she didn't even bother to knock on the door when she reached it, instead just opening it and walking inside. "Peter Burke, I have had enough of the attitude young man and it's going to stop," she told her son sternly.


Neal was not happy with the argument and he was expecting people to start yelling so he placed his hands over his ears. His blue eyes went to his daddy when the man said that no one was fighting but he shook his head. "Uh huh," he said, one hand gripping the man's shirt as he was picked up.

Peter looked up and sighed annoyed when his Mother came into the room. "Can't you just leave me alone and give me one day where you don't have to come and ruin it?!" he snapped unhappily, "I hate it here! I wish I had a different mom." he grumbled and turned away from her. "Just go with Dad and Neal to the park, just leave me alone!" he whined unhappily, just being a typical grumpy and dramatic teen, amplified because of the rude awakening.

Andrew sighed, "Alright hon, good luck." he answered and kissed her back. He then looked at Neal and smiled, "Come on kiddo, let's get you dressed and head out to the park, and if you're a good boy, Daddy'll buy you some ice cream. Just do me a favour, don't ever become a teenager." he chuckled and carried Neal up to his room, getting him in some cute but stylish clothes for the current time period, the 80's.

"Okay baby boy, ready to go?"

Lilian looked at her son when he asked if she couldn't leave him alone and let him have a day when she didn't ruin it, that and the bit about him wishing for a different mom hurt her feelings. There was really no way that it couldn't but she hid that fact from the boy and just looked at him sternly as she said, "Peter I have had enough of this nonsense young man. No one has done anything to you aside from wake you up for a breakfast that I took the time to cook, same as I cook all of your meals. I do your laundry, I drive you to school, I take you places. There is absolutely no reason for you to be giving me this attitude right now and it is going to stop."


Neal looked at his daddy when the man said that they were going to the park and he smiled at the mention of ice cream since he of course liked it same as any child. "Otay!" he chimed, not getting the bit about not becoming a teenager since he was just a little thing but he agreed none the less. Once he was dressed and asked if he was ready the child nodded his head and chimed, "Uh huh, 'sploooores."

Peter looked at his Mom when she said she'd had enough and then went on to list all of the things she did for him. He thought about that and then looked away, some tears filling up his golden brown eyes. There was another reason why he was acting the way he was, he just wasn't making it obvious. "Well now you got Neal to do all that for...a-and you don't need me." he answered and quickly wiped his eyes.

He figured the only reason he had to get up was because Neal got up early, and everyone was just going to go along and do whatever Neal wanted to do. He figured he was just slowly being replaced. "Just leave me alone..." he pleaded, turning away once again.


Andrew chuckled when Neal agreed to the ice cream and the conditions that came with that. He then carried him into his room, got him dressed and chuckled when Neal said he wanted to explore. "You can explore kiddo, but remember to stay where Daddy can see you, because Daddy doesn't wanna lose you." he told him before taking his little hand and leading him downstairs and out the door. He hoped things with his son and wife would work out since it pained him to see them both fighting.

"So what are you gonna do when we get to the park, kiddo?" he asked with a grin.

Lilian didn't appreciate the disrespect that she was getting from her son, she and her husband had raised him better than that and it wasn't something that she was going to tolerate from him. So she told him as much but she looked at him when he said that she had Neal and didn't need him anymore, that startling her since she had never once given him any reason to doubt her love for him since they had taken Neal in.

Walking across the room she sat down beside him on the bed and placed a hand on his shoulder as she said, "Peter you are not being replaced by Neal. We added him to our family but you are still very much loved and nothing is going to change that."


Neal looked at his daddy when the man told him that he could explore but then added that he had to stay in sight, the child shrugging at that one. He didn't think that he needed to but he didn't come out and say as much and instead just trailed along as he was lead downstairs and then outside.

"Gonna 'splore!" Neal announced, that seeming to be what he was mainly focused on right now.

Of course he was little and had a short attention span so that was likely to change at any given moment.

Peter looked at his Mom when she sat down on the bed beside him, the boy thinking about moving away but he didn't. "But you're still gonna like him more cause he's young and cute and happy all the time...and I'm just...a moody, antisocial teenager..." he told her, looking up into his eyes, his own seeming so lost and insecure but that was all part of being a teenager. "You'll get sick of me and make me find somewhere else to live...I saw it happen in a movie once..." he told her.

"Why else would you want Neal if it wasn't cause you were both getting tired of me?"


"Why am I not surprised?" Andrew chuckled when Neal said he was going to explore when he got to the park, which he already knew he would since all he'd been yacking on about that morning was exploring. He looked down at the inquisitive child and smiled. "And that's too bad, cause Daddy was gonna push you on the swing set." he told him and lead him across the street, holding onto his hand firmly so that Neal couldn't dart off and get hit by a car or anything like that.

He couldn't handle a heart attack.

While it was her first impulse to interrupt her son when he started talking about being replaced Lilian didn't do that and just let him say what he needed to say, her eyes gentle as she looked at him. "You are you Peter and I love you for that," she told him and then shook her head when he said that they would get sick of him. "No Peter that isn't going to happen. You didn't ask to be here, your father and I decided to have you and part of that is dealing with the ups and downs. Everyone has them Peter, you aren't any different," she told him quietly.

When he asked about why they would take Neal in if not to replace him she sighed softly and said, "Because he's little and off to a rough start Peter, he needed us. But you need us as well and your father and I have enough love for both of you, never doubt that." As she spoke she leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on his forehead.

"No matter how old you get you'll always be my baby boy," she told him softly.


Neal was very focused on exploring right now so that was what he told his daddy that he was going to do, the little guy looking up when he mentioned the swings however. "you was?" he asked, sounding surprised by that. Neal wasn't used to anyone playing with him so he didn't quite know how to react to that.

He tried to pull his hand away as they crossed the street but the grip that his daddy had on his tiny hand was too firm for him to be able to pull away from.

Peter looked up at his Mom when she started clearing things up with him, he smiled a bit when she said that he was him and she loved him for that. "I guess so..." he answered when she mentioned he didn't ask to be here, they had him and they had to deal. He then felt bad for Neal when Lilian explained he was off to a rough start and needed them. At that point, he moved closer to her and cuddled up against her like he usually did just because he was a Mommy's boy.

"I'm sorry I said I wished I had a different Mom...I didn't mean it.." he told her softly and wrapped his arms around her.


Andrew smiled gently and nodded, "Yeah kiddo I was." he answered and then kept a firm grip on him as the crossed the street, the man realizing Neal wanted to bolt but he wasn't about to let him do that because it was just not safe. He wasn't going to risk Neal's life like that.

Eventually they made it to the park and Andrew lead Neal to where the equipment were, smiling and letting him go. "Now remember, be a good boy and stay where Daddy can see you, and then you can have ice cream." he told him, keeping eye contact with the child so he knew he was serious.
