City Loving (For Yazaki)
Trembling fingers fought to type in the smart phone's password, and after about two tries of failing, nineteen year old Calvin Dobson finally heard the the click of approval. He was frantic, had no idea where he was, and to top it all off he were drunk. His movements felt as if they were in slow motion, and with each labored step he longed for the comfort of his own bed. His mind was a frenzy of, 'Who do I call!?', drunkenly racking his brain for a suitable answer.
His mom? She was all the way in Jersey, what could she possibly do for him at two a.m?
The police? Wait, did they arrest you for drinking underage? Calvin wasn't too sure, he wasn't studying criminal justice, but rather art.
...His boyfriend?
That made the most logical sense. He was drunk though, there was absolutely no such thing as logic right now.
It took him a few seconds to find the number he was looking for before he placed the phone to his ear, crossing his fingers for an answer from his partner. The two had just developed their relationship, but Calvin's habitual partying hadn't changed. He wasn't sure how he ended up on this street--or where he even was. The night started out so perfectly, they had gone to someone's apartment for a party. The last thing he remembered after taking plenty of bong hits to the face...was the bottle of vodka sitting on the counter.
Calvin was one of those 'wandering' drunks. His friends hated him for that, and now here he was...
Alone on some street corner.
Calvin was an unfortunate light weight. He was small in build, slim and toned from a few years playing baseball. His hair was jet black and softly curled against his head, his skin an even caramel from being of mixed ethnicity. His round eyes were a beautiful hazel, though they looked a bit dim, red and confused at the moment.
All he wanted was to go home, lay in his bed and drink some water. Perhaps with a trash can near by.

For several minutes, clicking and clacking filled the small two bedroom apartment. Shortly there was a low buzz of a mobile vibrating on the hard wooden surface of a work desk. A hand reached out to grasp the mobile, eyes scanned the front of the familiar number and drifted toward the current time; 2am. Talon Kumai, age nineteen, was not at all pleased with the call or the fact that his partner was so carefree. Numerous times his partner worried him by coming home late. He'd often warn the younger man that if he continued his lofty and irresponsible behavior then he would act on it.
The only reason he was up was to finish a deadline on his college paper. He sighed, ruffled his long blond braided hair. So much for finishing up, Talon thought in irritation. He debated wither to ignore the call, but after it neared the last ring he decided to not be a complete asshole and answered. "Good morning, Calvin," he greeted with clear annoyance ringing in his voice. "Funny, I would've expected you'd be home by now. Why is that?" he pressed, knowing well the reason why the man was absent.
Talon leaned back in his chair, opened another tab on his browser and inserted his boyfriends phone number so that he may track him down. "I'm unsure wither to consider yourself lucky or not for me answering you," Talon muttered darkly. "Tell me the street Calvin. Surely you can do that much."

"Please pick up...!" Calvin groaned to himself, not caring at all that he spoke aloud. He leaned lazily against a brick wall of an apartment building, one hand running through his hair, the other still shakily holding the phone. Just when he was afraid Talon wasn't going to answer, the sound of someone picking up made Cal breath a sigh of relief. In his haze, he hardly detected the annoyance of the other male, but rather responded with a jovial, "Talon! Hi! Morning!"
Hearing the writer's words, Calvin's cheeriness seemed to dissipate somewhat. "Er..funny story I guess..I don't know..I went out with Joey and Tom to this apartment. Like..I went outside for some fresh air Talon and I guess I got, well, lost." His words were slurred, equipped with awkward pauses as if he had to process what he was saying before saying it.
Cal frowned, biting his lip nervously at the foreboding statement. "What..whaddya mean Tal? Why are you being so mean, dude?" Calvin was a bit emotional, and under the influence, he seemed even more emotional. "Like, I could just stay here and become a hobo if you want! I don't hafta go home or anything, cause you're being mean.."
His drunken rant paused as he nodded, realizing Talon couldn't see his nod, and then answering with a, "Kay, I will!" As if forgetting he were upset in the first place. The dark haired male curiously looked around, a street sign catching his eye in the dim light.
"Umm...park? Yeah. Park! It says Park." A pause.
"Talon, are you mad at me?"

Talon had to admit that he found the cluelessness of his partner to be highly amusing, but he didn't wish to make Calvin believe that all was right with the world. He raised a brow at the reason, but said nothing about it until he was called mean by his counter part. "Quit jumping around. I never said for you to stay there, nor did I say I didn't want to come back. How much have you had?...Never mind...I don't see why I'm asking something so obvious," he grumbled into the phone.
After Calvin finished his slurred ranting, the switch turned to giddy and carefree again. He's totally hammered...Should I wait to discuss his idiocy until he's more coherent? Talon wondered. When given the street name, he inserted it on the computer and found Calvin's exact location. "I'll be there shortly. Don't wander off, Cal," he ordered. He debated wither to answer Calvin or not when asked if he was mad at him. "Use that partially functioning brain and you'll figure the answer out," Talon answered coldly before hanging up.
Talon slipped the phone into his pants pocket, swiped his keys, and headed out to the car with haste. He wouldn't be rushing if it weren't for the fear of Calvin going elsewhere. Revving the engine, he made his way to Park and when there scanned the streets for him.

Cal opened his mouth to speak when asked the question about how much he drank, but closed his mouth once Talon said never mind. The boy sighed, a little unnerved by Talon's icy words, but in a few seconds, he easily bounced back to being aloof and carefree. As he stood against the corner, phone in hand, a car drove by blaring music, and Calvin found himself swaying and humming along. He was happy--giddy and free!
Too bad it wouldn't last very long...at least tomorrow morning when he woke up hung over and slightly miserable.
"Okay I won't!" He spoke loudly, as if not realizing it were two a.m. Cal continued humming until Talon's final words were heard, causing the male to pause. He was going to ask a, "What was that s'pose to mean?", but hadn't the chance as he heard the click of the other line.
"Mean.." He mumbled, giggling as he slumped against a wall. The alcohol was doing it's work, for Cal's state of euphoria was slowly dissipating into one of exhaustion. It didn't take long for the male to notice a familiar car pulling up in park, and slowly, the dark haired boy staggered over to it. Opening the passenger door, Calvin slumped against the seat, shutting the door behind him. "Thanks Talon! You're...wonderful." He yawned, hazel eyes low but still carrying a hint of playfulness as he leaned over to kiss the man on the cheek. "So sleepy."

Talon stared at Calvin with slight amusement as he dragged himself into the passengers side after doing some weird little dance after hearing music booming within another car. He had to admit the party-happy mate of his was rather cute when completely drunk, but being how late it was and how much Calvin had made the cute meter drop to a meezly 1%. Keeping a stoic look about him, he stared nearly emotionlessly at Calvin for a moment after he declared how wonderful he was for helping him out. He shrugged the thank you off, knowing that the other man meant what was said. You won't be so thankful shortly, Talon thought menacingly.
"Nah, your sleepy? At three am?" Talon replied, filled with mechanical sarcasm. "Sit right and get your seat belt on, Cal," he directed with a shake of his head as he pulled out of his parked position. "You're lucky I tolerate your 'habits,'' he pointed out as they ventured down the road to their apartment. Talon stole a glance at his mate, still stone faced and on the borderline of ticked off.

Calvin giggled at Talon's sarcasm, which usually annoyed him in some way or the other when the boy was sober. Instead, he felt rather giddy and most of his boyfriend's responses, which would've concerned him normally, were simply looked at as comical. "I can stay up until six! Like, the time I pulled an all nighter and only got an hour of sleep before class. Remember that? I was like a zombie. Let me eat your brains!"
He laughed happily, feeling quite safe in his boyfriend's car. Unbeknownst to the drunken college student, Talon probably wasn't going to let this slide so easily.
Cal buckled up, placing his legs lazily against the dash, leaning wearily in his seat.
His eyes were closing, and he hadn't noticed Talon's stony expression. Instead, he merely nodded at his boyfriend's words.
"Yeah. *yawn* Thanks, bro."

"It'd be best no to remind me of such events, especially after you've nearly pulled one today," Talon warned with icy stare. "You're too careless," he stated gruffly. Letting the laughing fade into the back of his mind, he drove on in silence.
Talon said nothing more as he permitted the exhausted man beside him to rest for a while as he traveled the rest of the way home. When arriving, he quietly parked and unbuckled. He glanced over at Calvin for a moment, wondering if he should wake his mate or wait. Not wishing to have him sick or unable to understand when he was lectured, Talon decided to hold it off.
Exiting the car, he went over to Calvin's side and unbuckled him as well. From there, he carried the drunk up the stairs to their living space and set him down on the sofa. Normally, Talon would retreat to his room after fetching Calvin off the street. Which...was a common occurrence nowadays. This time, he sat down on the sofa's arm and kept a firm eye on Cal for the remainder on the night.

Calvin didn't plan on passing out in his boyfriend's car, at least not so quickly, but the night's events had finally taken a toll on the male. Before he knew it, he had drifted easily, the sounds of the car against the street offering some sort of security. He could pass out knowing he was safe with Talon. Everything before and beyond was a blur of motion and sound, and next thing he knew, Cal was placed against the soft sofa. His eyes fluttered open for a moment, hazel eyes wearily glancing at Talon, offering a grateful smile in it's wake.
He was happy he was still there..
And then, Calvin fell asleep.
Morning came quickly, sun shining through the apartment's windows and causing a sleepy, groggy and very much annoyed Calvin to groan. Frustrated, the hung over male turned on his other side, facing the inside of the couch and ignoring the morning's taunting sun.

"Sleep well, Cal. Get all of that toxic waste to bay for there's only room for one part of the body to be considered...toasted...come morn," Talon murmured when he was certain Cal was too out of it to hear or take note of his words. He kept awake for all hours due to being concerned with how much his mate had to drink. There were times when his mate would drink til sick and puking, while there were other times there was a need to give meds that would force the lad to throw up in order to keep sanity to a reasonable standing. He didn't stir until Calvin did when the sun crept through the blinds.
Talon wasn't up for allowing the other male to get his beauty sleep, for he felt the arrogant fool had plenty already. He tapped his foot impatiently as he watched Calvin move around to where his back faced him. "Half past nine Cal. Wake on up," he demanded. His voice had a sharp edge to it, but it wasn't loud or overbearing. It was...a warning before the storm to say the very least. Talon drummed his fingertips onto his thy as he waited for the other to stir.
"Took the day off for your sake," he added with slight hope that it'd motivate the sluggish man to move quicker. Talon stood from the sofa's arm, moved Calvin's legs so that he wouldn't be sitting on them, and parked himself beside his groggy mate. There were some dark lines beneath his eyes, suggesting he hadn't slept well or perhaps hadn't slept at all.
