Having finished his training session with the young prince for the day Camden was making his way down the cobblestone street in the local town market, keen on finding something for himself and just needing a little time to unwind. He was fond of the youngest of the royal family but he did think that Kieran could stand to learn to be a bit more responsible, the brash young kitsune constantly acting without thinking and while it wasn't so much a problem now it could easily develop into such. He had mentioned that to the King but as of yet His Majesty hadn't figured out what to do in order to curb that impulsive nature of the boy.

“Well I suppose that we shall figure out something before he finds too much trouble for himself,” Cam murmured to himself, gazing around at the various wares that were being sold and trying to decide on just what it was that he wanted though he was leaning toward some fruit just because he wanted something that was on the sweet side.

Kaeli was a young, orphaned bird-like girl. She looked normal aside from two delicate wings folded against her back, and very observant eyes. She looked around, her stomach growling as she smelled different foods around the marketplace. She quickly stole a red apple from a fruit stand and started to run. Kaeli jumped as her wings unfolded, but she fell flat on her face with a thud. She hadn't quite learned how to fly yet, or even glide. "Owww.. that really hurt." The 6-year old muttered with a wince as she stood and prepared to run again.

Cam arched a brow as he saw the child stealing an apple from the cart that he had been standing next to, thinking that he kid was apparently not a very practiced thief if her lack of stealth was any indication of that. Sighing and thinking that his attempt at getting away from stress had backfired Camden moved forward, ready to give chase but it seemed as though that would not be necessary as the child lost her balance and ended up falling on her face. "Hold it," he said, reaching out a hand to grasp her by the arm so that she couldn't go anywhere, a slightly stern look on his face as he gazed down at the little waif. "You know you're supposed to pay for things before you take them," he said mildly, guessing that she didn't have any money but then again the vendors had to make a living as well so they didn't tend to be lenient in cases like this.

(was sort of assuming she'd be another kitsune)

Kaeli rubbed her head as she started to get up, but felt someone grab her arm after hearing him speak. She squeaked, lightly startled, and thought about trying to pull away, but decided against it. She groaned as she was reminded she had to pay for things, giving him an unintimidating pout. "I don't have money, and I'd rather not starve.." She replied, her stomach growling loudly, making her blush in embarrassment. She handed the apple back, biting her lip.

Cam looked at the girl when she pouted at him as though that was supposed to help the situation and then went on to tell him that she didn't have money and would prefer not to starve. "So who's in charge of you? Where do you live?" Cam asked, his tone still stern and he maintained the grip that he had on the child's arms though at the same time he reached into his pocket and pulled out a coin, handing it to the man that had been selling the apples and making no moves to take the apple that she was offering to him. Truthfully he had no plans of pursuing criminal charges against a small child but he did need to know where she belonged so that he could return her to her parents and inform them as to what she had been up to and tell them to keep a better eye on her in the future so that things like this didn't happen again.

Kaeli sighed at his question, fidgeting a bit. "No one takes care of me anymore.. an' I live in an alley." She replied simply, watching as the apple was paid for. "C-Can you let go? I promise I won't run.. even if I did, you'd catch me before I could excape.." She requested, beginning to nibble the apple. She figured since it was paid for, she could eat it.

(thought her mispronouncing escape would be cute)

Even though his facial expressions didn't show it Cam actually felt sympathy for the child when she told him that no one took care of her anymore, the man sighing and shaking his head when she asked if he would let go of her, promising that she wouldn't run if he did. "Come on, I can't just leave you here," he told her, scooping the child up and balancing her on his hip, knowing that he couldn't take care of her but perhaps he could find someone that could. "You'll come with me and I'll get you a proper meal. After that...well, we'll see," he told her, not stopping her from eating the apple since he had paid for it so that she could have it in the first place.

Kaeli blinked as she was picked up and carried, not sure what was happening. As she listened to him, she ate the apple and tossed the core. As a proper meal was mentioned, her eyes lit up and she had a surprised look. "I-I'm not in trouble..?" She asked, holding onto him and wondering why she was being pitied. She was used to being ignored, so this was new.

The confusion that was felt by the little one was pretty evident as Cam looked at her and when she asked about being in trouble he offered her a half smile as he replied, "Perhaps a little bit of trouble, we shall see." He wasn't saying it to be mean but it really wasn't up to him whether or not she was in trouble, he first had to find someone to look after her and then it was going to be their decision. That could wait until after he had gotten her a decent meal however, the flame tipped kitsune turning and making his way back toward the palace, having completely forgotten about his own desire to get some fruit as well as a break.

It didn't take long to return and once there he carried the child to the kitchen, politely asking one of the cooks to get a bowl of soup for her and then taking that and some bread to the small dining room. Once there he placed the little girl at the table and put the food that he had been juggling in front of her. "Eat up," he said, offering her a gentle look. "And there's more if you'd like once you finish that."

Kaeli gulped as she was told that she might be in trouble, but that isn't wasn't known yet. She fidgeted as she was carried, blinking as she realized she was being taken to the palace. She looked around curiously while holding onto the man, in awe of the palace.

As Kaeli was sat at the table and food was set in front of her, she blinked surprisedly and hesitated briefly before thanking him and beginning to eat. She placed a hand to her cheek, loving the taste. "It's really, really yummy." She said softly before resuming her meal. She finished the bowl after a few minutes, burping quietly, making her blush. "Oops.. 'scuse me." She said with a cute smile.
