“Did you want something?” The edge of condescension and disapproval in Crowley's voice was an unnecessary touch, but worth it as he saw the Angel squirm a little where he stood.

"I'm here about Sam." Castiel answered, "And because you have proved yourself to be an ally of the Winchesters and I, Sam needs someone to-"

“No. Not interested.” Crowley dismissed the Angel.

The fingers of Cas's right hand twitched slightly, plucking at the fabric of his trenchcoat, the unconscious action the only movement in his otherwise still body. He got that way when he was nervous, holding himself like a perching bird. “What do you mean?”

"Meaning I have better things to do than babysit a Winchester, Kitten." Crowley sat back down in his chair, ran his fingertip around the rim of his scotch glass and eyed the Angel. "Unless of course, you can offer me something?"

"What do you want, Crowley?" The Angel asked, tilting his head to one side and squinting those baby blues.

"I want the old divine shaft." Castiel's gaze seemed to drop to his groin and Crowley had to roll his eyes, his wit and charisma was lost on this Angel. "Don't flatter yourself. The staff of Moses, Kitten."

"I cannot hand over a weapon of heaven to a demon!" Castiel answered back, leveling Crowley with a horrified and malicious glare. "What would you plan on doing with it even if you had possession?"

Crowley rose to his feet and advanced on the angel, fury at his high-and-mighty attitude boiling up. “Well, too bad, kitten, I guess you're going to have to find someone else willing to put up with the pocket sized Moose!” Bobby was dead, John was dead, Jody refused to take part in any more Supernatural shenanigans and Castiel couldn't take both Winchester's under his Wing.

Taking a deep, defeated breath, Castiel schooled his features and lowered his tone. "Very well, but there are conditions for Sam's well being."

Crowley stared at him expectantly. "And?" he prodded after a moment.

"You will care for him until he is twenty-one years of age. You will treat him as your own child and give him the love and support a child needs in order to grow healthy and happy." Castiel's tone was stern, he would not have Crowley neglecting Sam or throwing him in a cage in Hell, treating him like some pet. "You will not strike h-"

"Bla, bla, bla." Crowley sighed, giving the Angel an uninterested stare. "And should the little darling be in need of a reprimand. Would you rather I sit him down and talk about our feelings? Or give him a big hug?" the Demon scoffed. "I will strike him if I believe I have to."

Castiel narrowed his eyes skeptically and thought that over for a moment. He would be taking young Dean Winchester in hand should he decide to be disobedient, so he supposed Crowley should have the same right. "Very well, but only on the bottom and thighs, you are not to give him bruises or welts or anything more than reddened flesh."

"Very well." Crowley bowed his head in agreement. "I'll come and collect my new toy in an hour, the King of Hell has some...hellish business to attend to." with a smirk Crowley vanished, Castiel was left standing in the room alone, wondering if he had made the right decision. Crowley could be a 'jackass' as Dean put it, but he was sure Crowley would be sentimental with Sam at the very least.

********

"As if not being allowed to look at porn wasnt bad enough, now you're telling me I have a bed time?!" the fourteen year old version of Dean Winchester snapped at his new Feathered guardian. Being 'Fathered' all over again didnt sit well with Dean for obvious reasons and he would be a little rebellious to begin with. "We're gonna figure this damn spell...curse...whatever it is out!" he huffed and glanced over to his ten year old brother, who hadnt been paying attention.

"Hello Boys."

Dean whirled on his heel and frowned when he saw the King of Hell himself stood in the middle of the dingy hotel kitchenette. "Crowley?"

"Hello squirrel." Crowley smiled tauntingly. His gaze then flicked over to the moody ten year old sat by the window on the old beat up couch. "I take it that's mini Moose?"

"Yeah, that's Sam..." Dean's green hues then widened in realization. He rounded on Castiel, his face boiling up with rage. "CROWLEY?! Mother fucking Crowley?! You picked the King of Hell to raise up Sammy?!"

"Just so we're clear-" Crowley leaned slightly into the conversation between heated brat and feathered gaurdian "-I never fucked any mothers, at least nobody's in this room." he then ducked out and strode over to the miniature Sam Winchester, who looked at him with those big doe eyes.

"Hello Moosie." Crowley did his best to sound and appear pleasant. "I trust you've packed all your bags? Shall we be off?"

"You are only fourteen Dean, sleep is necessary for children to grow and healthily sustain themselves." Castiel repeated, for what felt like the millionth time. Maybe he should have kept Sam, if only for the sake of the younger boy being less likely to throw a fit. Dean was much more likely to rebel and push the bounds of their situation. He sighed when Crowley popped into view, tempted to rub his temples at the phantom headache he could feel coming on.

Sam stared at Crowley, unsure of what to do.

Cas sighed when Dean turned to him angrily. "Dean, Crowley is not going to hurt Sam. He has been a consistent ally, and I am assured no harm will come to your brother." He placated, deciding to work on the language aspect later.

With a glance at Dean, Sam managed a tiny nod at the king of hell. He was frightened to be leaving his older brother, but Cas always did what he thought was best. Right? The little boy stepped closer to the demon, nibbling on his lower lip.

When the two vanished, Cas returned his attention to Dean who he was sure was going to have a tantrum. "Dean, enough. The situation is not ideal, but we must make the best of it." He said sternly, considering the teenage boy in front of him.

Fourteen years old was not a good age for this...but Cas hoped that Dean would adjust in time. "And enough cursing Dean, it is not appropriate." The angel added, crossing his arms. If he was Dean's guardian now, he might as well start acting like it.

Sam had kept his eyes closed until they arrived at their destination, and he cautiously glanced up at Crowley. "You're not going to hurt me...right?" He asked nervously.

Crowley placed a hand on his own chest, mock-affronted. “Don’t trust me, Moose?"

"Why the hell should he?! Yeah you might have pulled our asses out of the fire before, but I don't think for a damn minute that you'll be good to Sam!"

"Why, I’m the most reliable person in this outfit. Say what you want about demons, squirrel. But when I make a deal, I hold up my end of the bargain. I’m honest about the terms and conditions. And I’m never going to do something stupid that goes against my own self-interest. That makes me more predictable than the whole bloody lot of you.”

"Deal?" Dean frowned.

"Feathers over here-" Crowley gestured his hand to Castiel, "-offered me a pretty little stick--well actually, offered might be putting it mildly. Bottom line is, sunshine, I look after gigant-less and I get to take possession of the Staff of Moses."

Dean turned to face Castiel with narrowed eyes, "Are you freakin' insane!? You cant give him something that damn powerful! You better take it back, Cas!"

"Sorry kid, the grown ups already sorted this one out." Crowley smirked and then turned to the little boy now in his custody. "Come along, darling, Daddy's getting testy." With a snap of his fingers, Crowley teleport-ed himself and mini Sam to a rather luxurious pent house suite. Crowley crosses the room to his little liquor storage and pours some of the Laphroaig into an empty tumbler.

"Terribly inhospitable of me not to offer you any, I know, but the law is the law, Moose." he didnt sound so apologetic though as he threw back the tumbler, taking a large gulp of the brown liquor. He needed it.

"Quit cursing, why the hell should I?! They're just words Cas, you never had a problem with my cursing before." Dean scowled and stomped off to his little motel room when Crowley disappeared with his little brother. On the verge of a tantrum, Dean slammed his bedroom door shut and threw himself on his bed, completely pissed over the situation.

Sam looked around the fancy penthouse suite, biting his lower lip as Crowley sipped his liquor.

He wasn't all that concerned with the inability to drink, which was probably driving Dean insane. "My name is Sam." The little boy finally said, eyes flashing up to the king of hell. "It's not moose."

There was a hint of rebellion in him, somewhere, buried under the unease he felt at being separated from Dean, especially when he couldn't defend himself. "Where's my bedroom?" Sam asked, looking around. He wanted some space for a moment, and to a ten year old boy, a bedroom was like a sanctuary. "Do I have toys?" He asked again after a moment, mind jumping from topic to topic. "Where are we? Are we still in the same country?"

Sam had always been a curious kid, and his hyperactivity was bound to make a reappearance eventually. Especially now that he was under the impression Crowley would let him be for the most part. Cas had always been stricter.

Cas sighed as Dean stomped off and slammed the door, following after him.

"Dean, you're no longer an adult and you must take care not to use language that might draw attention to us." The angel said, before raising a brow and pushing the door open. "I know you are upset Dean, but you will not slam doors."

He steeled himself against feeling bad for Dean, because he knew a tantrum was coming and it was inevitable at this point.

"Come, you need to eat Dean. There's no use throwing a fit because things aren't going your way." Cas encouraged, moving to stand beside Dean's bed. He did stay out of arms reach, just in case his little brat decided he wanted to try and physically fight the angel. A ludicrous thought, but Dean wasn't exactly being rational at the moment.

"I'm aware of your name, Moose." Crowley answered, staring pensively - not at Sam - but at his amber beverage. His mind was racing with thoughts. He hadnt had to Father anyone since the 1600's, and even then he hadnt done the best job. He'd beaten his bastard of a son on a daily because he'd hated him. Still, he had a deal with Castiel and for now the Staff of Moses was still interesting to the King of nasty. Also, though he wouldnt outright admit it, he had a strange loyalty to the Winchesters and their Feathered pet.

Those golden brown eyes flicked up to Sam in annoyance when the child began asking question after question, not bothering to wait for an answer. "First door on the left. No. England. No." he answered in chronological order which probably wouldnt have been helpful to the child. Crowley had no virtues and so he would have no patience, but for now he was holding back on his temper with this boy, mostly because he had a soft spot for the once giant baby.

"Now that's cleared up-" Crowley stood and walked over to the boy. "I believe it's time you were in bed, lad." after all, it was nine and Crowley needed some time on his own to think. He'd been a parent for a whole ten minutes and he was exhausted! Whoever said parenting was fun ought to be boiled alive, Crowley thought. "Now, do you want me to be angry? I can assure you that you do not, so be an obedient little thing and run along to bed."

****

The teenager would not be happy at all to have Castiel on his heels and he scowled from his position on the bed when the Angel walked in and told him he was not to slam doors. "For-" following Castiel's glare, Dean decided against that colourful retort and he just pouted. Castiel then said he would need to eat and he sighed, he did feel hungry, but then again Dean always felt hungry.

"I'm NOT throwing a fit, yer just being a dick!" Dean snapped and got to his feet, stuffing those clenched fists into his tatty jeans pockets. "I just dont get why I have to be parented, I'm still a damn adult, you know!" he wouldnt take a swing at this Angel, at least not right now, he wasnt completely angry but he was well on his way.

"Yer an idiot, Cas." Dean huffed.

"Then why are you calling me Moose? My name is Sam." The little boy reiterated, thinking the demon must not have understood his point. He had more questions, but his guardian didn't seem inclined to put up with answering them. "Can I have toys? Why are we in England? Can we explore?" Sam insisted, tilting his head up when Crowley walked over to him. Now that he was small, it was a lot more intimidating than he remembered it being. "But it's only nine!" Sam complained, offering up his best puppy eyes in hopes of convincing Crowley to let him stay up.

However, his guardian had said he just had to go to bed. Not that he had to sleep. Sam abruptly stopped talking, and nodded. "Okay, good night!" He said agreeably, before heading to the first door on the left as he had been instructed to. The room was mostly bare, and Sam figured he'd have to maybe get a message to Cas and make Crowley get him something to play with. As a kid though, Sam had had an active imagination, and it seemed to have made a comeback.

The ten year old waited under the covers patiently until he was sure the demon king wouldn't be paying attention, before hopping out of bed. Sam began talking himself through a story of him being a famous adventurer, trapped in a castle and having to find a way out. Amidst fighting monsters, Sammy stopped paying attention to just how loud he could be. "Begone foul beast, I'll defeat you!" Sam announced, pillow in hand as a shield.

****

"Dean." Cas said sternly when the teenager called him dick, raising a brow. "You were an adult. Your body and your emotions are no longer than of an adult, so you do need a guardian." He lectured, before deciding enough was enough. The angel landed a sharp swat to the seat of Dean's jeans. He made a note to get the boy some new ones, that didn't look like they were going to fall apart.

"I have had enough of your mouth Dean. Keep this up and I will spank you, and it will not be warning." Cas warned, giving the former hunter another swat toward the kitchen. "You need to eat, and then you will be going to bed." He mostly needed a break, because being a parent was a lot harder than he could have imagined.

"That was--surprisingly easy." Crowley murmured to himself, narrowing those dark eyes skeptically as he watched the young child head to the first door on the left. He didnt know what Sam was up to, and he supposed he would have to check on him later and make sure he was still breathing and all of that parental paranoia business. The King of Hell settled himself down in a comfy black, leather chair, the tumbler of scotch in his calloused palm. He had no idea that Sam planned on being disobedient, and unfortunately the child would quickly learn that his new Gaurdian would not shy away from consequence.

Crowley fished into his suit jacket pocket and pulled out the rather shortened version of the divine shaft he'd acquired from Castiel. A cruel smile formed on his lips as he thought about all the malicious business he could get up to with a weapon of Heaven. However his joy was short lived when he heard a very theatrical war cry from Sam's bedroom. What was that mite doing? Rehearsing a play?

Sighing, the King of Hell got to his feet and abruptly made his way to Sam's bedroom where the light would be on and the child would be playing out a scene from his imagination. Even with the door open, Sam hadnt noticed Crowley's arrival, and the demon leaned against the door frame, watching the small boy with a curious gaze, gauging the right moment to make his presence known.

"Ehem." Crowley stood upright, hands in his suit pockets. "I believe I told you it was bed time." he told the child, his tone eerily quiet and calm. He closed the distance between himself and the boy, and without much warning, he whirled little Moose around and gave him a sharp swat on his bottom, before making him face him again. "And now--I'M ANGRY!" Crowley growled, his temper flaring.

*****

Dean really wasnt paying attention to anything else the Angel said to him, so when that firm swat came down on his clothed rear end, Dean yelped in complete surprise and his hand went back there immediately to rub at the sting, "Hey!" he whined indignantly. "That hurt..." he scowled and glared down at the floor when Castiel told him he'd had enough of his mouth and if he kept it up then he would spank him. "But--" Dean answered, dropping his protests when the Angel fixed him with a firm glare.

"Owww! Stop it!" Dean whined and rubbed his butt again, not appreciating those spanks one bit. He made his way to the kitchen and his jaw fell open when the Angel simply told him that he would be eating and then going to bed, "Bed? But it's only nine Cas, c'mon!" Dean pleaded, realizing he was going to have no say in this whatsoever.

Sam had gotten to wrapped up in his imaginary world that he had failed to take note of his guardian's presence until it was too late. With a squeak, Sam turned to face Crowley when the man cleared his throat. "I...um..." He stuttered, before yelping in pain at the swat to his bottom. Sam's eyes watered at the sudden flash of temper, and the little boy recoiled quickly. He took several steps back, his back resting against the wall. Sam wasn't a confrontational person, he had never been. His eyes watered with tears as he tried to rub the sting that had been placed there by his clearly irate guardian.

"I-I'm sorry, I won't do it again! I was just bored and it's scary in here." Sam whimpered out, his voice soft and terrified. He had no way to defend himself, and he didn't know if Cas would be able to come to his rescue if he needed to. The tears began leaking down his cheeks, and Sam wished more than anything he had just gone to bed without having thought to play by himself. "I-I didn't...I didn't mean to bug you!"

One small hand wiped the tears away while the other clung to his smarting backside. "W-What're you going to do Crowley?" Sam asked, eyes fixed on the angry king of hell. "I promise I won't do it again!" He tried, hoping to buy himself a little bit of mercy. Why had Castiel thought this would be a good idea?! Crowley was more likely to kill him and be done with it than watch over a kid. More than anything he missed Dean. More tears welled up, and Sam was moving from upset into full on meltdown.

*****

"It was meant to hurt." Cas replied without hesitation when Dean informed him that it hurt. "You seem to be in such a bad mood, than I can only surmise that sleep would help." He added, raising a brow at the pleading tone. "Your body is young and it needs more sleep to function that you realize. If you can show me that you can act appropriately, we can discuss moving your bedtime up." The angel said, before snapping his fingers and summoning a turkey sandwich alongside some carrots and celery. Dean needed to eat better, especially as a kid.

Cas had hoped they would make it longer than one hour before Dean's rebellious streak decided to make itself known, but alas. "You are a child now Dean, and unfortunately you must get used to having rules." The angel said, not unkindly. John had done his best, but he hadn't really enforced rules other than hunting orders. Dean was used to being his own boss, but not for any longer.

It would be so easy for Crowley to knock the child unconscious and have a quiet night to himself, however those were not the terms he and Cas had come to an agreement on, so Crowley would have to actually --comfort this child. He didnt hold any sympathy when he started crying though, as Sam had been disobedient and he had earned that good spank. The Demon narrowed his eyes and tilted his head a little in confusion. "Scary?" he repeated, not quite sure what it was in the room that frightened the child. "Would you care to elaborate on why you believe your room is scary?" he asked, gesturing for him to explain.

"No, I know you didnt mean to 'bug' me, Moosie, but you did and I'm quite annoyed that you chose to disobey Daddy." Crowley told him simply and with a sigh, he sat down on the bed so that he could be eye level with this child, the child that now belonged to him. The King of rotten rose an eyebrow when Sam asked what he was going to do and he had to blow out a little frustrated breath.

"You seem inclined to think that I'm going to hurt you in some way." he pointed out, "Like I said before. I stick to my agreements, I'm not going to hurt you beyond a sore bottom M-...Sam." Crowley thought it better to address the child by name for now. "Now will you please stop that sniveling and get into bed?" he asked, standing and pulling back the covers, showing the child he intended to tuck him in. His tone had dropped from furious to mildly pissed off, but he would speak as softly as he could to Sam.

*******

"But--" Dean couldnt come up with a good enough argument. He was tired and he was grumpy and ratty because of that, but he didnt want to just comply with being a child and needing more sleep. "I'm not in a bad mood..." he scowled, which was clearly a lie. Dean was just trying to save his pride. Castiel mentioned that they would renegotiate the bedtime terms if he proved he could behave appropriately and Dean sighed, figuring that was the best he was going to get right now.

"Cas...why have I got rabbit food for lunch?" Dean asked with a whine, all for the turkey sandwich but the raw carrot and celery did nothing to pique Dean's interest. Celery tasted like ass, and Dean only liked carrots when they were cooked and soft. "I'm not eating those..." Dean frowned, pushing the veggies off of his plate and picking up his sandwich.

"Dont gimme that look Cas, Celery tastes like ass, everyone knows that." Dean pouted, mouth full of turkey, bread and butter.

Sam blinked when Crowley questioned him on why the room was scary, and winced before slowly admitting his reasoning. "T-There's no nightlight." He said quietly. "I-I don't like the dark." Around ten or so was right after he had learned exactly what went bump at night that Sam developed a fear of the dark that he had had until his late teens. "I don't sleep without one." Sam explained further, his voice shaky and watery as he spoke. The demon king seemed to have calmed down somewhat, having backpedaled from angry to just annoyed. Sam was somewhat reassured that Crowley didn't seem inclined to actually hurt him, at least not according to Cas' agreement.

The little boy was actually shocked when Crowley pulled back the covers, but Sam did edge forward until he was beside the bed. He settled onto it and pulled the blankets up over himself. "I miss Dean." Sam said quietly, not that he thought Crowley would care, but it was something he needed to say out loud. Dean had been his protection against the dark, and now he was all alone without his brother.

"There's nothing out there...right?" Sam asked, glancing over to the windows. Now that Crowley didn't seem inclined to throw him out of one of said windows, he began opening up a little bit more. Plus he was actually using his name now, so that was at least a step in the right direction. The bed was actually pretty comfortable, and Sam snuggled down a bit. "Can we get me toys tomorrow? So I don't have to be in here alone." He asked, sitting up a bit. "Otherwise it's going to be really boring." The more comfortable he was, the more Sam talked, and right now his words were a bit slurred from sleepiness.

*******

"Really? Are you snapping at me because you're in a good mood?" Cas asked, with an almost amused quirk of his mouth into a smile. He raised a brow when Dean pushed the vegetables of of his plate, before sighing. "Dean, you cannot live off of bread and meat. You have to eat vegetables, or you're going to end up being underdeveloped." The angel admonished, and in a flash the vegetables were right back onto Dean's plate. "You have to eat at least half of those in addition to the sandwich.

Teenage Dean was just like Adult Dean, just smaller and even more grumpy and inclined to argue. "In the future, I will ask you about how you like them prepared, but for now you can eat them as they are. It will not kill you." The angel said, voice not booking any argument. If Dean actually threw a fit over the vegetables, Cas was not going to be amused.

The kid was begging for a fight, and Cas planned on winning it. The sooner Dean realized he was under Cas' purview, the easier it would be for everyone.
