Want to get rid of the annoying adverts? The answer is simple. There are 4 levels of advertising on AnimeOTK:
Level 1: (Your Level, guests and members with 0-9 posts) has maximum advertising.
Level 2: (A user with 10 or more posts who has been a member over two weeks) have vastly reduced advertising (including removal of the large full screen closable adverts)
Level 3: (A member who has been registered over a month and has over 50 posts, or has a special account like "artist" or "writer" sees minimal advertising.
Level 4: (VIP Donators) receive no advertising.
All donators of $10 or more will never see an advert on our site again!

Startling Realization - Download comments
So I have ceased being a lurker after an embarrassingly long time (since 2007) yikes. I never commented on all the amazing artwork or participated in the forums. As far as this amazing site was concerned, I didn't exist, but this isn't the startling realization.
After posting my own fan fiction, I realized that I yearn for feedback on my story. And I bet all artists and writers feel the same way. By me not commenting on the artwork that I enjoyed, I was denying them the very same thing that I crave now.
I was browsing the fan fiction list and saw lots of works with lots of downloads (50+) with absolutely no feedback. How do the writers know that their work is even appreciated? There is a rate file, but if only one person rates it, that rating is misleading.
How else are artists and writers to improve on their work if they don't receive any feedback on how they are doing? Sure practice and experimenting is fine and dandy, but if no one tells you if they like what you are trying, how do you know?
I have recently started posting in the forums and commenting on pictures or fan fictions I read. I will no longer hide in the shadows and keep my comments to myself. If I like your work, I will let you know from now on, that is my promise to you from now on! I encourage all lurkers to leave their comfort zones and participate in the community!
Sorry for the long post but I'm more sorry for not commenting on all the fine artwork and fiction!

What you're describing has been an issue as long as the site's been around. It takes longer to absorb a written work whereas a picture can be seen at a glance. You also cannot view a story on AOTK, only download it. Between the two of those, stories get far fewer total views and this is when even the most popular drawings on the site have a comment/view ratio of <1%.
There isn't really a great solution, alas. I welcome anyone who wants to share their writing here but I wouldn't make it exclusive to AOTK if feedback is what you crave.

<1% comment ratio is really sad to see, especially for artwork. I will continue to post my work here but what alternate sites would you recommend? I can't grow my writing skills without feedback.

I think that holds true across every art gallery on the internet. DeviantArt isn't much better that I've seen. AOTK did have a 1-10 star rating system at one point, which tended to get more use because it was much faster to register an opinion. However a combination of some people taking it way too seriously and other members using it to troll for reactions forced us to abandon it. I actually did read your work and liked it a lot, but I only know Overwatch via the memes that make it to the wider internet so I'm afraid I'm not the best person to ask about it.
spankinglibrary.tk is probably the largest dedicated spanking story site, for what it's worth, but I don't know their policy on fanfiction.

You are probably right about it for all sites. I am glad you enjoyed my stories despite not knowing much about overwatch and I will try out spankinglibrary.tk if they allow fan fiction.
Thank you Dr. Weird.

I agree with this! And its not just here but many places, commenting on stuff really has seemed to decline. Mostly people push a like button (or something like it) if there is one. It's sad the way things are turning out. I've also learned to post comments or my thoughts on works as well, in hopes it may spur others to or perhaps others paying back the favor one day.
