Once a Thief {for Passionate Shadow}

It wasn't late per say but it was late enough in the evening that many of the patrons of this particular tavern were already well on their way toward being drunk. Seated in one corner of the place was a petite redhead that was just eying the other patrons through keen blue eyes. Dressed in such a manner that he didn't really stand out the nineteen year old was watching everyone carefully but at the same time not being obvious about it.

A skill that he had been working to master for a while.

Slight in stature and slim he could easily pass for a girl if he had the proper attire, which he had done before so he knew that this was true. Currently Killian was trying to blend in with the crowd so that wouldn't have worked out in his favor; he did not want drunk men hitting on him right now.

Although that did make it easier to steal from them.

Currently he was in the process of finding a likely target, his eyes scanning the room and pausing here and there. Reaching up with a hang he brushed back a strand of his red hair, blowing out a slightly frustrated breath. He was starting to think there wasn't anyone in this place that would be worth the effort but then his eyes fell upon a figure that definitely stood out in a crowd.

"...no blending in for that guy..." Killian murmured to himself, blinking a few times.

He was obscenely tall and he had rather long stark white hair. He was dressed with a hat and cloak and had a traveling bag with him. He was seated up stairs flipping through several pages of a book reading away... he seemed near oblivious to the world around him. He wore a large brimmed feathered cap and his cloak had excellent embroidery... and at his hip he appeared to have a coin pouch ripe for the taking.

This guy seemed oddly out of place in the tavern but Killian was starting to get the impression that this one was ripe for the picking. Not only was he dressed well but he had a coin purse that was right there, in plain sight, and the man himself seemed to be zoned out currently. The book that he had open before him seemed to have thoroughly captured his interest and at this point the redhead decided that he had found his mark.

Getting to his feet and playing the part of just another drunk patron Killian made his way across the room toward the spot where the white haired man was seated.

Killian's acting skills were pretty good and as he reached out for the coin purse he was careful not to tug on it and alert the man to what he was doing. Taking things without being noticed was another of his skillset. Grasping the coin purse he had to fight back the urge to smirk, the arrogant little thief patting himself on the back as he slid his prize into his pocket and turned to stagger away as if nothing had happened.

He hadn't stopped for any length of time, all of this happening rather quickly, so Killian didn't think that there was anything to give him away.

As Killian moved to Pocket the coin purse a tight hand wrapped around that very wrist with out even looking up from the book a rich baritone voice spoke up. " And just where do you think you're going little one?" His voice was smooth and velvety. Like Chocolate. He seemed curious though some what amused by the meager attempt.

To say that Killian was stunned would be an understatement.

This was something that never happened, he didn't get caught. Of course there had been times when he was learning the fine art of pickpocketing that he had been caught but it had been quite some time since that had happened. So he was shocked that the guy, whom he had thought was engrossed in his book, had noticed what he was doing.

"...I have a very important engagement elsewhere," Killian answered, his voice soft and somewhat melodic. As he gave this answer he made the attempt to pull his wrist free of the grip that the stranger had on it.

Twisting his arm slightly in the hopes of managing this.

Matthew closed his book and set it aside on a table before pulling Killian right on over his lap by that wrist. "I think you're engagement is going to be canceled for the evening... I do not take kindly to grubby little thief. " Matthew said splaying a large gloved hand over the back of Killian's shoulders. He was incredibly strong... There was no competition between the two.

"Hey!" Killian yelped as he found himself pulled over the man's lap, that catching him by surprise and his other hand immediately shot out just in case he was going to have to break his fall or something along those lines. That didn't happen thankfully and he immediately tried to push himself up only to find a restricting hand holding him in place.

"I take offense to that grubby comment, I bathe regularly thank you very much," Killian said with a little huff as he once again tried in vain to get up.I'll give it back, just let go of me," the redhead stated, glancing around because he knew that this was going to cause a scene.

Which was something that he always tried to avoid, he did not like drawing attention to himself in any way.

Being noticed by the wrong person could result in serious issues.

Oh and draw attention Matthew did. " Oh you'll give it back alright... But my question to you is this little one... should I report you to the guard for theft?" Matthew said as he reared back and and brought it down with a sharp swat over Killian's trousers. "Give me one good reason I shouldn't after I'm through chastising you for such a crime.

This was not the way that Killian had planned for the night to end.

Celebrating with the spoils of war somewhere, yes...over the lap of some giant, decidedly not. "I would really prefer you didn't..." the redhead said when the man asked his question, Killian making another attempt to get up before yelping rather loudly in response to the smack. "Hey! You can't do this... I mean, I would really prefer you not do this...you are causing a scene."

"...I was going to feed starving orphans with the money," Killian said, keeping a straight face as he said this, or as close to one as he could manage given his current situation.

"Then you could have asked for it then... instead of stealing it like a common thief. " Matthew said and swatted him yet again being a bit harsh but truth giving the poor soul 'love taps'. Some of the other tavern patrons found this scene rather humorous and even cheered Matthew on. Others made comments about how he should be handed over to the guard. It seemed this tavern was more so filled with the adventuring sort.
