Cures what ails you ails you (for Little Sayuri and Sunshine11)
Alan's cart rolled along into the rocky road, vials, botttles, and obscure equpiment rattling about in the back dispite their heavy padding. He'd been an an alchemist in trade for a few years now, and an apprentice to his former master for a decade before that. He'd been only ten when he'd chosen his career but he hadn't regretted it a day since then.
There was a certain purity in what he did, it wasn't charity by any measure but it certainly helped the people. All one had to do was role into town, pass out the potiens and elixers where they need to be and collect the propper payment. A simple life but one that had brought him years of beautiful scenery and smiling faces through his wanderings.
As the nearing town came into sight a slight frown crossed his lips, there were certainly a few upper crust homes among their lesser breatheren but this was clearly not a place of wealth. He'd likely be selling mostly curatives here, cheap ones at that, but life was not all peaches and not every sell was a pocket full of gold.
"Pack up the good stuff would you? Just slap the lids on tight." He said over his shoulder. Usualy he'd kept most of his merchandise on display, but he was a little worried about sticky fingers in this place.

Sarah was sitting in the back of the cart and was watching the landscape. She was 14 years old by now and the apprentice of Alan. As he went into the town where she lived, she was interested in being his apprentice the second she saw him.
She dreamed about being an alchemist since she was a little girl and so she asked him to take her as apprentice and he agreed. That was 3 years ago and she didn't regret it until now, even if she made some mistakes every now and then, but it was what apprentices did.
Curiously, because they would reach another city soon, she looked at it and did as she was told.

Susan, a 13 years old girl followed her mother towards the alchemist that had arrived town newly, not making a single sound. She knew all to well what was going to happen. Her father was going to die if he didn't get medicine and they didn't have any money. The only thing they had to offer the alchemist was their little girl. Their sweet, little, shy girl.
Susan made sure to keep her head lowered slightly as a small sign of respect, but she also made sure to keep her brown, wavy hair away from her face.
Her Mother went over to the cart, a small smile placed on her lips. Of course she was sad, both about her daughter and her husband, but it wasn't necessary to let the rest of the world know. And this was the only option they had, or else Susans father would die and then Susan and her Mother would die from hunger. She only hoped the alchemist was going to be good to her little girl... If he would take her, that is.

Alan wistles sharply through he teeth to pull the horse to a half, loosening the reins and reaching forward to give it a gentle pat. There was a slight crease of worry in his brow as the woman approached. Generaly people didn't rush up like that unless there was somthing direly wrong.
"Evening miss, high ones' blessings on you whichever you favor." He said cautiously with a glance over his shoulder to see that sarah had indeed covered the more expensive items well. Giving her a swift nod of aproval he stepped down from the cart and streatched his poor cramped muscles. "Now, what's brought you out to see me on this fine day?" He added, giving his best salesmen's smile. These people didn't seem to be in the mood for bargining or haggling but that was no reason to let his form slip.

The woman looked up at him and in her eyes you could see tones of worry and lots of sleepless nights. "My husband has cancer, sir, he is going to die unless he gets medication" She told him, not wrapping it up in any way, she was simply to tired to bother.
When the man stepped down from the cart Susan couldn't help but sending him a shy glance, showing a pair of crystal blue eyes, but only half a second later she lowered her head again.

Sarah was waiting in the back of the cart but got curious as she heard that her teacher was speaking to a woman. She climbed out of the cart and looked around the corner, making sure to have an eye on the poisons too so Alan wouldn't get angry with her.

Alan's face fell a little. It wasn't some negligable infection or minor disorder, but a wasting sickeness. That most certanily would not be cheap, just providing the most basic of cureatives for such a thing would doubtlessly rob them of their last scraps of currency.
"That is, quite unfortunate miss. I'll be certain to do everything I can for your husband." He said soothingly, touching the woman briefly on the shoulder before glancing back to the cart. "Susan? Three of the red ones, vials. Wrap them up tightly now." He orderd swiftly, it was just a starter program before they even got the question of what -sort- of illness he had.
Turning his attention momentarily to the young girl he favored her with a smile. She was a sweet young thing, pretty. She'd certainly have all the boys chaseing her in a few years. "Don't worry sweety, your father's going to be just fine."

Susan looked up at him for a few seconds when he spoke to her, but then quickly looked down again, biting her lip.
"Thank you so much sir" The woman said, sighing in relief. The question about payment hadn't been brought up yet, but she knew she would have to do it now, no matter how unpleasant it might be. having the man think she had been trying to trick him and sending the guards after them wouldn't do much good.
"When it comes to the payment, sir, I don't have any money to give you..." she said uncertain. "And I know you can't afford to do this and not get any money for it... All I have is my girl" She said in a quiet voice, hoping he would understand what she was trying to say.
(gtg, bye)

Sarah went back into the cart and searched for what Alan asked her for. She soon found it and did as she was told. She smiled at the girl which seemed to be her age and looked up at Alan as he promised the girl that her father would be alright. She brought the vials to Alan and stood next to him.

Alan took the vials, touching at his apprentice's shoulder warmly and smiling across at the mother once more. "These should keep the strength in him while he heals, but i'll need to see him if i'm to understand precisely what he needs. Where is he?" He asked hopefuly. He didn't imagine that this family could afford to pay them what they were due. but hopefuly they could arange for the community to pitch in.
