Rules of the West (for Mjølner)

The sound of the word bounty hunter caught Beth's ears. She looked up at him with improve curiosity, staring into the young face of the man. A part of her doubted him. She'd always pictured bounty hunters as old and gruff, not like this man before him. Quickly, she hid the fascination from her face and smiled lightly, "A lady like me, hm?" She chuckled lightly, now much less agitated by the man and more curious, "Bethany Manor. I'm here looking for a certain... company." She nodded to herself before looking back at Thomas, "Never met a bounty hunter before."

Thomas arched an eyebrow at Beths words. " Company, you say...well, then...what kind of company are you looking for, if I may ask?" he said, as his look was now a lot more gentle than previously. He gave her a small smile as she said that she hadn`t met his kind before. " Well, you`re looking and talking to one now." he said and chuckled. " Are you surprised that I have such a profession?" he asked her.

Beth shrugged her petite shoulders gently, "Not really surprised. I've actually been wanting to meet someone with your kind of profession." She smiled coyly at Thomas as she looked into her eyes. She then slid her mostly undrank beer over to him and cocked her head, looking a bit more serious than she did before, "Buy me something that doesn't taste like urine? Then maybe we can talk business."

Thomas grinned at Beth when she said that she had been wanting to meet a bounty hunter for some time. " Hmm...why is that?" he asked. The blonde nodded when she said that she wanted something other than beer. " You`re a bit of a snob, aren`t you." he teased. " It`s fine, though...as long as I get the urine you whine about." he added as he headed towards Sam again with a tip of his hat towards Beth. " Here you go. Now, let`s talk...business, then." he said as he handed a glass of gin and tonic over to her.

Beth wrinkled her nose lightly at the statement that she was a snob but shook the insult off. She smiled lightly at the glass that sat before her now and lifted it up. She sniffed the beverage before taking a quick sip and smiled over to her new drinking partner, "It's good. Much better than that other stuff."

Setting the drink down, Beth turned to address the man. Her expression grew less playful and she rested her arm on the bar, "I want to kill a man, but I need an escort to do it. Someone to help me find him and escort me across the desert. You wouldn't have to pull the trigger though, thats my job."

" I`m glad you like it." Thomas mused as he drank som of the beer she had forsaken. He gave Beth a curious look as she said that she wanted an escort. " I see...I could help you with that, provided you pay me well of course. My services don`t come cheap." he stated. He couldn`t help but laugh as she said that she would do the shooting. " Excuse me, but...I really doubt that you have what it takes to shoot a man..." he said and grinned at her.

Beth look taken back by Thomas' statement, calling her shooting ability into question. She narrowed her eyes and brushed her jacket back, showing off the revolver resting in its holster at her side. It was an ornate weapon and looked as if it'd been polished more than it'd been used as of late. Still, it was a fine weapon.

"I'm actually a damn good shot, I'll have you know." She spat out before letting her jacket conceal the weapon once more, "I grew up on a ranch, not a mansion. I know how to handle myself. And I've got the money you want, don't worry about that."

Thomas`eyes widened slightly in surprise as he saw the gun Beth had in her posession. He had to admit that it was a nice weapon and he had thought she had been bluffing with her comments about killing, he still doubted her abilities, though. " It is an impressive gun, but I still doubt you have the guts to fire it at a person." he stated as a matter of factly. " The proposition does sound nice. I`ll help you out in finding the person you`re after...when do you want to leave?" he asked and gave her a small smile as he finished the beer.

Beth simply rolled her eyes as Thomas continued to doubt her ability, but decided not to bother arguing with him. It was true she wasn't the greatest shot, but she knew she had it in her to fire at the man who killed her father. It was just a matter of finding him first.

Thomas' quick response to her inquiery caught her off guard. To be honest, she wasn't that sure when they should leave or what they should bring. She'd actually never gone too far outside of her ranch. She bit her lip in thought, "Um, tomorrow. We leave tomorrow. Do you know where Big Hill is? It's supposed to be near Idaho, I think." Beth tapped her finger on her nose as she thought, "We should get supplies today, right?"

Thomas nodded his head at Beth. " Tomorrow sounds good and yes, I do know where Big Hill is." he said softly. The blonde chuckled at the womans next question. " Yeah, we should do that. The general store is across the street, we should go there. After you, miss." he said as he gave her a slight bow as a way to tease her a little. He had to admit that she was a bit fascinating, even though he found her confidence to be a slight annoyance. He stood up and bid his good byes to Sam and some other patrons before walking outside.
