Want to get rid of the annoying adverts? The answer is simple. There are 4 levels of advertising on AnimeOTK:
Level 1: (Your Level, guests and members with 0-9 posts) has maximum advertising. Level 2: (A user with 10 or more posts who has been a member over two weeks) have vastly reduced advertising (including removal of the large full screen closable adverts) Level 3: (A member who has been registered over a month and has over 50 posts, or has a special account like "artist" or "writer" sees minimal advertising. Level 4: (VIP Donators) receive no advertising.
All donators of $10 or more will never see an advert on our site again!
What tickles my fancy(in addtion to the art) is the the text on some of the cards. Examples:
Students: "Classified as a dangerous weapon", "Whistles back", "Kisses AND tells", "Some trophies you cannot show mom."
Locations:"Headmaster's office-Like a boss", "Laundry room- you would not believe what gets lost in here."
Capture: "Cuddle paddle", "Breast friends"
I remember this one. It had the honour to be pulled off kickstarter after a kotaku review denounced implied rape as the main selling point. Would have been more credible if any person other than kneejerk extraordinaire Luke Plunkett had done it, but fact remains that aside the artwork and risque, the game is essentially a collect and match cards romp that you could play with pretty much any deck, and barely souring the 'game' definition.
While I would not disagree that the complexity is not high, I content that those not detract from it being a fun game. Also I think that it does require more strategy (especially with the expansions) then say Old Maid,Black Jack or Rummy. Not family friendly true, but a fun little thing to do with a few friends late into the night.
Didn't know it had expansions tbh. I lost interest fairly quickly after seeing the play example. And I won't deny that it can be fun. If games like the ones you mentioned are still around, it's for a reason. Still, at least for me, if you fork the asking price when for the same amount you could probably get a second (or first) hand Dalmuti, or San Juan, or Gloom... Well. You know that eye candy is pretty much what they have going for them.
