WARNING: EXTREMELY POLITICAL

So a while ago, French artist "Miss Lilou" made a caricature of Spain and Catalonia, who wants to be independent from her "mother" Spain. However, as a Catalan myself, and witnessing Spain's hatred and brutality first hand, I decided to take my own spin on it. Mother Spain isn't the weeping, gentle soul Miss Lilou illustrated, but a despotic and cruel parent, who treats her children like slaves, and Catalonia isn't just proud of her wealth, but she knows that her people want her independence.
Translations;
Mother Spain: You bitch! You go around wanting independence when I love you so much?!
Catalunya: "I don't care what you do to me, you cannot stop the will of a people!"
Mother Spain: "Then I'll spank you like I did back in 1939 and I'll wash your mouth of that filthy Catalan! And the rest of you, prepare yourself!"
Euskadi: "Always the same story, fascist bitch."
Navarra: "Don't worry, I'm always with you."
Castilla: La Mancha: "Mom! Wasn't I your favorite?!"

Enjoy, and I hope I don't offend anyone.

From my own experience with forums, working with Community Managers and being in them, introducing religion, politics or gender into a forum is the quickest way for it to turn from a civil place to a... much less so one.

I could comment on things like how talking about hatred of something while clearly representing hatred for the opposite in the drawings and text is not exactly a way to accomplish anything except further polarization and argument, but I'll pass. I have been living in Germany for 6 years now and it doesn't seem it'll be changing soon, so one way or another, I could honestly care less about what happens.

Castille made me laugh, I'll say this.

You do have a point here. However, one of the reasons I posted it on AOTK is to see how the spanking crowd reacts to it; I'm planning to post it on Facebook, where I know the political stuff will offend some (that's a given), but I wonder of spanking art will offend the mass audiences. What do you think?

Hard to say, really. It would certainly be new for the spanko crowd, since it's not really a part of the imaginarium of the kink- probably because politics is eminently public and spanking and other less standard kinks tend to be private, usually with good reason.

As for the non-spanko crowd, I don't think it would change the impact much. The older ones might remember that it was commonly used in comics or cartoons as a joke mechanism and the new ones, unaccostumed to exposure in the media, will probably either a. Think of it as a sort of infantilization, which is likely their experience with spanking, b. Find a reason to be terribly offended by it, probably as byproduct of the political theme. Child abuse, objectification or women, pick your poison.

Then again, not much can be done about b. People who want to get offended will always find the way. Frankly, I think you'll get several times more outrage from the yoke and arrows than you could ever get from spanking.

I'm kind of curious now, to be honest.

So am I.
We're living in an exciting time in Catalonia, and if the Fascists act even more vilely in the following days, I'll post it!
Wish me luck!

Actually it was the symbol of the joining of Castille and Aragon under the Catholic Kings long before it got appropriated by the FE-JONS. But yeah, explain that to anyone...

I am really shocked at how brutal the repression in Spain has been, and I really hurt for the people of Catalonia. It makes me feel sad that this is where politics has gotten, and it's more like the UK/Ireland, with violence and hatred on both sides than it was (in my own back yard) with Canada/Quebec. The Quebec independence vote failed, by the narrowest of margins, but the Canadian Gov't. was willing to respect the Quebecois right to choose, rather than send in the army.

Not that Canada/Quebec relations have always been amazing, (like with the FLQ Crisis back in the 70s) or that Canada is somehow some sort of paradise (see: our absolute genocide of aboriginal people and then following that with Residential Schools) but a well established Western democracy like Spain doing this to their own people is shocking.

Yeah, well. When you destroy/inutilize police cars, gather to harass and disallow mobility of public servants, threaten or coax people expressing opposing points of view with the strength of grouping, hold elections without voter control or secrecy and impartiality guarantees all the while yelling at and insulting citizens and the government alike and posing images taken from violent riots in other countries that can be located easily in Google if you know what to search for, the police is bound to get a wee tad miffed about it, and might not be as delicate as you might expect in handling cease and desists. Oh the savagery.

For the record, I don't approve any of the decisions the Government on handling this issue. But I won't suffer lightly that people just get the tune that Government=evil poor, pacific, opressed polarized nationalists=good. There's been plenty of evil shit going on on both sides.

Y'all aren't going to settle issues of national sovereignty on a cartoon porn site. I would strongly recommend dropping it altogether, or at least taking it to PMs before this spirals any deeper.

My big question to all of you who commented is as follows; casting aside the political viewpoints (which will inevitably offend someone), do y'all think that this spanking art would be accepted as a political caricature by the mass public, or do you think that many people may take offence to it?

Well, if I may take a contrary point: The referendum was illegal, the way the catalan government behaved was treason - according to a democratic and liberal constitution. Actually it was all about the money. Catalania is rich and wants more power in a state...hmmm.
In all other countries in Europe such a behaviour would be treated similarly. And as Dr. Weird has said:

We cannot solve this problem here, so maybe we should leave such things from a spanking site.

To answer your actual question, I've seen political cartoons with spanking from both America and France, so it's nothing new (and I'm sure there's been a Spanish one or two before).

People might object to the art or to the message, but under the current circumstances not too many are going to assume the spanking is anything but making a political point (particularly if you ever post non-spanking art there).
#13 Tue October 31, 2017 19:54

Update; this spanking art has been well received by general audiences! Seems like the message is stronger than the image!
