Default Chaos in the Time Vortex (a 12th Doctor rp with VulcanSpock)

It was pretty hard to judge finite time in the TARDIS, and the Doctor usually didn't bother. That restrictive existence, bound into a routineof all things, was usually practised by the humans, even if they ended up in his TARDIS for quite a while. Their poor wee pudding-brains couldn't cope with time on a much wider scope like he, with his superior Time Lord brain could do.

However, since he had ended up with too wee pudding-brains on his TARDIS, and they were going to be sticking around, his old girl would brighten and dim her lights wherever they were, so night and day were emulated enough to encourage almost normal sleeping patterns. He didn't need sleep, but they most certainly did, and he sometimes felt it was easier when they were sleeping, as the weren't causing chaos in his TARDIS.

Unfortunately, at least one of them wasn't asleep, as they had taken his favourite novel and left an Avenger's DVD in its place. The Doctor gritted his teeth and strode to where the swimming pool was housed. Opening the door, he bellowed: "HARLEY! What did ye do with my novel?!"

Since being on the TARDIS, Harley had learned a lot about space and time travel...as well as aliens and of course that running to them with guns didn't help much. The Doctor made that very clear...that was for sure. He was currently swimming lengths in the pool, unable to sleep for some unknown reason. Lance had managed to run him riot earlier that day and yet he still couldn't sleep. Odd.

He looked over and grinned when he saw the Doc standing there and demanding to know where his novel was. "Hey Scotty, fancy a dip?" he asked, sometimes calling The Doctor 'Scotty' because of his accent. Most of the time he made a lot of Star Trek references like 'beam me up Scotty' those of which escaped the Time Lord.

And he said THEY were the ones with pudding brains. "Uh, well....I had it in my room, but don't get mad...I kinda lost it." he told him truthfully before getting out of the pool and shaking his hair like a dog. "Stop shoutin' yer gonna end up waking Lance." he told him, sighing. "It's just a dumb novel Doc."

The Doctor released a wordless growl and thrust his hands into the pockets of his jacket, the red lining peeking out on each side of his waist. He was very offended that Harley had insulted his precious books, and especially his favourite novel, which was the only copy in the universe. While he did not verbally acknowledge the young man's point about Lance, he did lower his voice slightly as he snapped rather petulantly:

"My novel is not 'dumb'! It is educational and informative!"

With an expression that was almost a pout, he eyed the pool with definite distaste before stalking towards the corridor. It took him ten minutes for his brain to catch him up on everything Harley had said to him, but once it had the effect was immediate. Sticking his head back into the room, he forgot all about how noise could wake up Lance and yelled at Harley, his eyes bulging with outrage.

"What do ye mean ye lost my novel?!"

Harley rose a brow when The Doctor protested that his novel was not dumb. "Try Harry Potter or something like that, there's more to it than a wall of words about things people don't care about." he answered, shaking his head and then he watched in surprise as The Doctor left without screaming at him. "Wow, that was easy." he grinned and dove back into the pool.

He resurfaced the exact moment when The Doctor came back to the room and then screamed at him about losing his novel. Harley sighed and heaved himself out of the pool once again. Okay so maybe it wasn't that easy. "I was making a fire and it made for good fire wood." he grinned before backing up immediately when the Doctor came storming toward him.

"Kidding!!!! Kidding!" he said quickly, hands up in a placating manner. "I don't know what happened to it, I had it ....and I don't know where I put it. The TARDIS is so damn big..." he muttered.

The Doctor glowered fiercely at Harley, before leaning over him and giving him an ultimatum in a low, warning voice.

"Ye had better be kidding about burning my novel Harley King, or so help me I will blister your behind so ye won't be sitting for a week!"

Straightening, he considered what Harley had told him. If he truly had forgotten where he had the novel last it could take a long while until it was found, especially if the TARDIS was mad at him. The old girl could be very vindictive when she was annoyed. Sighing, he focussed on Harley again.

"Since ye so generously lent me your DVD, you won't get it back until I find my novel. Hopefully the loss of something ye own will teach ye to to go pinching other people's articles."

Harley gulped and leaned back some when The Doctor gave him that low warning tone that always gave him chills....and not the good kind either. His hands went protectively to his bottom when told if he wasn't kidding then he'd blister his behind. "Noted.." he answered through a wince and then smirked a bit when The Doctor mentioned the DVD he'd leant him, though right now was probably not a good time to smirk.

"Nice try gramps, but I have three copies of that DVD." he said haughtily before diving right back into the pool and then resurfacing, grinning at the Timelord like a cheeky child. "I'm sure your dumb novel will show up somewhere...or maybe I really did burn it, either way you'll never know." he chuckled and carried on swimming his lengths.

The Doctor glared at his cheeky, swimming companion before turning away and striding out the door. It would not be fair of him to spank Harley right now, as he didn't know for certain if he had burned the Doctor's novel. If he found evidence that he had, he would then do what he had threatened.

((ooc: sorry this post is quite short, I'm off to bed, and I'm afraid my brain wont let me come up with anything more ))

(( it's okay ^^ sleep well ^^ ))

Harley watched The Doctor leave and then once again heaved himself out of the pool. It was fun teasing the old coot but he figured he better try and find the novel because he knew it meant a lot to the Timelord. He got dried up and then revisited all the places he'd been with the novel, looking around for it and sighing each time he came up short.

"It's gotta be around here somewhere." Then he found it, stuck to a piece of old pizza. He peeled the novel off. It stunk and there was a pizza stain but it was still readable. He then skipped out of the room and went to The Doctor. "I found it!" he beamed, handing it to him.

The Doctor grimaced as Harley handed him the novel. He was glad to have it back, but he was not glad to have it back in this state. He hastily pulled a handkerchief out of his jacket pocket to hold the book without getting his fingers dirty, before aiming an icy glare at the young man in front of him.

"While I am glad that ye found my novel, what exactly had you been doing to get it like this, hmm?"

Harley bit his lip, he could see right away that The Doctor was not happy with the condition of his novel. "Well...it probably fell on my bedroom floor." he answered, and needless to say if anything got lost in his room, it was almost impossible to find. His room was disgusting and always filled with mess, clothes and food lay on the floor in a heap that smelled atrocious. "So....we're good now, right Doc?" he asked hopefully.
