i am having a difficult time playing this game i am using linux and every time i start up it states theres a error and mediately crashes

I don't think any rpgmaker version is compatible with Linux systems. So unless you can get your hands on a windows pc, you might be out of luck.

Or do an split on the core with Linux on one side, and Windows on other?

Only MV has Linux support for what I know ( http://store.steampowered.com/app/363890/RPG_Maker_MV/). I'm tempted to buy it to create something/open the new games that don' t work with the index.html.
This game worked some time time ago, try to check old Wine version with PlayOnLinux or Lutris.
